The Pedicure Colors You'll Want To Wear All 2024

With 2024 well underway and sandal season just around the corner, it's time to think about pedicures. While whatever you do to your toes is ultimately your call, like every year, some colors and shades will stand out more than others in 2024. You know, the ones labeled trendy, must-haves, and whatever other adjective Gen-Z will inform us of before the year ends.

"It's so exciting to embark on a new year of trends because it's a complete mindset and vibe reset," Olivia Van Iderstine, vice president of content and creative at nail salon Olive & June, told InStyle. "It encourages us to bring out colors we haven't used before, experiment with nail art and textures, and embrace a new season."

While 2024 trends include classic pedicure colors like shades of red (how else are you supposed to keep up with the mob wife aesthetic?) other colors will be hot all year as well. The only problem with so many pedicure options is trying to figure out exactly how you're going to be able to try every color before 2024 draws to a close.

Butter yellow

Nail artist Zola Ganzorigt told Vogue that one of her favorites, butter yellow, is going to be big in 2024. What's so great about this shade of yellow is that, as a pastel, it absolutely works for the spring and early summer, but because it's also a warm hue, it will still be at home on your feet into the fall and beyond.

In fact, yellow, in general, is going to be big for both manicures and pedicures this year. Canary yellow, which is slightly more intense than butter yellow, is going to be everywhere, as is taxi cab yellow if you're feeling ultra-bold. "This refreshing and dynamic yellow, reminiscent of the iconic taxi color, adds a playfulness to any look," nail artist Jin Soon Choi told Allure, adding that the reason their team used this particular shade on the runway models during the Helmut Lang spring 2024 show was to "reflect a keen sense of contemporary New York style, infusing a burst of energy." If you adhere to the theory of color psychology, then you already know that a yellow mani or pedi is going to give you a happy little boost, so lean into these shades and embrace what they have to offer.

Blue — in all its shades

As the most adored color in the world, you can never go wrong with a blue pedicure. Also, knowing that all shades of blue are going to be in style and trendy in 2024, you have a lot to work with when styling your pedi. You could even do each toe a completely different shade of blue as if paying homage to Pantone. "Many tend to be more playful with their pedicures, and I think we will be seeing an unexpected increase in blues during the warmer months," celebrity manicurist Deborah Lippmann told Bustle. "Pastel blue is the perfect addition to your toes."

As celebrity manicurist Elle Gerstein told Elle, soft blues aren't just "dopamine enhancing" and a perfect complement to all skin tones, but it's 2024's answer to 2023's blueberry milk nails — and who didn't love that brief trend? Basically, if you're not sure what to do with your footsies, go blue.

Chrome

When chrome nails entered the chat a few years ago, people couldn't get enough of it for manicures and pedicures. And that's not going to change anytime soon. "Chrome nails have been leading the way for two consecutive years and this trend is set to continue in 2024," nail specialist Juanita Huber-Millet told WhoWhatWear. "This chic look is so versatile and suits all nail lengths and shapes."

Nail artist Tara Hayes not only agreed with Huber-Millet, telling InStyle, "chrome is here to stay," but that we can expect even more chrome color options to come about this year. "Most of us know about the traditional powder chrome," said Hayes. "But as technology continues to advance, nail color trends may include even more futuristic metallic shades." This isn't just great news for those who already love chrome, but it could lead to others jumping on the chrome bandwagon as things become more advanced. Chrome is equal parts downtown chic and uptown sophisticated, so it really is a color that works for everyone.

Mint and match — basically, all greens

In 2023, trend forecasters at WGSN told Glamour that matcha and mint green had a "soothing and calming quality," adding that "as consumers continue to deal with higher levels of anxiety and stress, colors that soothe the mind and bring a sense of rest and reflection will be more appealing." Not only was WGSN right, but we still need those shades in our lives, because as luxury manicurist Julia Diogo told Marie Claire UK, green nail polish — any shade of it — will be all the rage in 2024.

"People didn't realize how chic it could look but now they've seen it doing the rounds, everyone is loving it," said Diogo. "It's elevated, chic, and pairs well with lots of outfits, which helps!" So you can either get on board with the greens, accepting them into your life with open arms this year, or not. With such a spectrum of shades, however, it would be difficult not to find a green that works for everyone.

Beige/neutral

We may have left "Succession" in 2023, but its cultural impact on fashion and beauty remains. "It seems like quiet luxury is here to stay for a bit," nail expert Michelle Nguyen told Glamour. "Many people are now embracing a sleek, minimalistic look for their nails, and we're seeing a lot of sheers and pigmented skin tone and nude shades trending for 2024." As nail artist Jin Soon Choi told Elle, "Versatile and understated, nude beige shades offer a chic and polished look that never goes out of style." So, cue the "Succession (Main Title Theme)" and embrace your inner Shiv Roy. Or Roman, because he could rock a quiet luxury pedi like it's nobody's business.

Of course, this is just a handful of pedicure colors that you'll want to wear all year, but considering the range of each one, you have a lot to work with. So, don't wait, and kick off sandal season now by booking an appointment to get one of these lovely shades on your toes soon.
