Tangerine Is The Trendiest Nail Color For Spring & Summer 2024

If you've been keeping up with the hottest nail trends for spring 2024, then you already know that things are all over the place. We've seen the butter nail trend explode thanks in part to Selena Gomez, the rise of the delicious-looking matcha and mint trend, and, of course, florals are also reigning supreme as they tend to do every spring and summer. But those trends are just the tip of the iceberg. If we dive a little deeper, we'll see even more trends on the horizon and one of them is the tangerine manicure. It may not be the most obvious choice, but that's what makes it so great.

"I think people should look at unusual colors in 2024. Wild cards," nail artist Celina Rydén tells Vogue Scandinavia. "My choice falls on tangerine orange... Yellow and orange just exude happiness." But because tangerine can be a bit out there or, as Rydén calls it, a "wild card," trying to infuse it into a manicure can feel a little overwhelming — especially if you're used to darker shades. But, no matter how much you might love or fear the brightness of tangerine, there's a manicure option for you so you can get in on this fun trend and not miss out. 

Who doesn't love an accent nail? Although historically an accent nail was a way to explore nail art either on a budget or without diving headfirst into eclectic manicures, it's certainly come a long way since then because accent nails are everywhere and, even better, don't appear to be going anywhere. A tangerine manicure with an accent nail (or two) brings an added dimension to the manicure that can really showcase your personality even more.

In the actual shape of the fruit, your manicure takes on a new level of bold and fun. 

While last year ombré lip gloss nails were big, because ombré is here to stay (at least for now), this is a trend that's works perfectly in tangerine — and nail artists love to do them. "Ombré nails are pretty simple yet highly effective nail designs," nail artist Edyta Betka tells Elle UK. "What I love about them is their versatility — they can easily be taken to the next level. This can be achieved through clever color pairings, the introduction of delicate iridescent powders, the use of chrome powder for a metallic edge, or by decorating them with tiny gemstones.
