Kate Middleton Still Looks Stunning Without Makeup

Catherine, Princess of Wales, always looks gorgeous no matter what she's doing. Whether it's Trooping the Color or a royal walkabout, whenever she greets members of the public, Catherine looks put together. But her royal polish didn't happen overnight. From her early days in the spotlight, as a student at St. Andrew's University, where she started dating Prince William, to the contemporary moment, Catherine underwent a dramatic style transformation. Everything has changed as she's climbed the ranks of royalty, from her hem length to her heel height, as well as a radical change in hairstyles, too. Sure, she's had a few fashion mishaps, but for the most part, Catherine has nailed a personal style that works for her and her role within the British monarchy.

Part of Catherine's beauty transformation includes her use of makeup. As a solidified royal and the Princess of Wales, it's tough to find a snapshot of her without makeup; Every glimpse of her is polished to the max. In her earlier days, however, Catherine was more comfortable sporting a makeup-free look. Of course, it looks a little different from her picture-perfect style now, but it's fresh and lovely. We have to say, she looks just as good without makeup as she does with it!

Catherine skipped makeup with her rowing team

Back in April 2007, Catherine, Princess of Wales, joined the Sisterhood, an all-women's rowing team. The team of women practiced on the Thames, in preparation for a race across the English Channel against an all-male team called the Brotherhood. The competition was in the name of charity, and Catherine, while training, was heavily photographed, both on land and on the boat, where she steered at the helm. Unfortunately, the late Queen Elizabeth II found the media frenzy around Catherine's involvement with the Sisterhood to be too chaotic, and Catherine had to pull out of the actual race. Nonetheless, we got some lovely photos of Catherine, makeup-free, when she was involved with the team. After all, the activity was so athletically demanding, that it makes sense that she kept her look simple and sporty.

Catherine skips makeup for a ski trip

When Catherine, Princess of Wales, was dating Prince William during their days at the University of St. Andrews, it was tough to gauge how serious their relationship was. Things changed, however, when Catherine and William were photographed together in March 2005 at the Alpine resort Klosters-Serneus in Switzerland. The trip gave their relationship status some clout because Prince Harry and then-Prince Charles were skiing as well, so Catherine was joining other members of the family. Part of the intention of the trip was to have Catherine spend time with William's father and brother, and she kept her look athletic and fresh, skiing without makeup. It was clearly an active vacation, and Catherine looked happy to be out on the slopes.

Catherine runs errands as a college student with her dad

Catherine, Princess of Wales, met Prince William while they were both students at the University of St. Andrews in Scotland. They both began in the fall of 2001 and graduated in 2005; by the time they had finished their studies, Catherine was already known around the world as William's girlfriend. It would be another six years before they married, but Catherine was already getting a taste of tabloid invasions up in Scotland. It's no surprise that while completing errands around town with her father, Michael Middleton, a paparazzi snapped a photo of her. She dressed casually in a white tank top and opted out of makeup for the day, but she still looked lovely while running around town.

Catherine attends the Gatcombe Park Festival of British Eventing

Shortly after graduating from the University of St. Andrews, Catherine, Princess of Wales attended the Gatcombe Park Festival of British Eventing in August 2005. The equestrian event was held at Princess Anne's home of over 40 years, and was a favorite for many members of the royal family, most of whom are avid riders and horse people. Catherine attended the event with her mother, Carole Middleton, and the two kept things casual, which was appropriate considering the outdoor environment. Catherine wore jeans, boots, and a wide hat and looked natural without makeup.

Catherine watches a polo match sans makeup

Catherine, Princess of Wales, watched Princes William and Harry compete in the Chakravarty Cup at the Beaufort Polo Club in July 2009. In photos from the day, Catherine is seen emerging from William's Audi A5 and watching the polo match while standing near his car. She looked appropriately nervous as the onlooking girlfriend and even held her hands to her face at one point. She looked relaxed, wearing her hair long and loose with no makeup, and stayed simple and cozy in a grey sweater.

Catherine dresses chill at a polo match

In 2008, Catherine, Princess of Wales, attended a polo match at Coworth Park near Windsor Castle, to support Prince William. She was joined by Prince Harry's then-girlfriend, Chelsy Davy, and the two women sat together and cheered on their men. The two women kept things very relaxed, both wearing jeans and boots. Catherine wore her hair down and opted out of makeup, which makes sense since the event was held outdoors and could get muddy and damp.
