Florence Pugh's Edgiest Hair Looks From Blond To Buzzed

Although Florence Pugh has gained attention for her talent, especially her role as Amy in Greta Gerwig's "Little Women," she's also made a name for herself with her hairstyle choices. In an industry where women tend to play it safe when it comes to hair cuts and colors, Pugh has constantly challenged conventional looks, opting for originality. After all, it's not often that a young starlet in the early stages of her career shows up to the Met Gala with a shaved head.

"Hollywood is very glamorous — especially for women — and it's hard for an audience to see past that," Pugh told Radio Times in a July 2023 interview regarding her shaved head (via Allure). "Whenever I've not needed to be glam or have a full face of make-up, I fight to keep it that way. It helps the audience. Vanity is gone. The only thing that people can look at then is your raw face ... Even at the beginning of my career, I was always fighting to control my image."

Whether she's rocking a short platinum cut, the velvet crop, or she's removed her hair all together, Pugh is an icon for embracing your authentic self. She's also setting a new standard for what beauty can look like — and it doesn't have to be long, flowing hair.

Florence Pugh mixed it up with magenta ombre in summer 2021

Even before she ditched her long waves, Florence Pugh was keeping things ultra-cool and super chic. In July 2021, Pugh was seen outside the Dior runway show at Paris Fashion Week rocking blond hair that faded into a magenta ombre. Actors rarely go for unnatural colors, but Pugh, continuing to express herself in the most real way possible, proved she will always be fearless with her hair choices.

Her hair was slicked back and dark in December 2021

Although it wasn't until after her relationship with Zach Braff ended in 2022 that Florence Pugh really began experimenting with her hair, her hairstyles before that certainly weren't boring. In December 2021, Pugh attended the world premiere of "Don't Look Up" with slicked back brunette hair. While it wasn't quite a mullet (a la Kristen Stewart), it was definitely giving off strong mullet vibes, and was an enviable short hair trend to say the least.

Even when Florence Pugh isn't debuting a super short cut or new color, she always manages to create a unique hair style. At the BAFTA Film Awards in February 2023, Pugh was a vision in a coral tulle dress with her hair pulled back to resemble a fan. The style was paired with short, baby bangs.

She buzzed her hair for the 2023 Met Gala

When Florence Pugh showed up at the 2023 Met Gala celebrating designer Karl Lagerfeld, she shocked fans and onlookers alike. Not only did she wear a stunning dress and headpiece designed by Pierpaolo Piccioli, but underneath that (very tall) headpiece, she'd shaved her head. It wasn't a short pixie or even a close crop — she actually shaved it. Not many people can pull off a bold buzz cut, but Pugh proved she's one of the few who can.
