5 Kristen Stewart Looks That Bella Swan Would've Hated
IRL, Kristen Stewart is worlds away from her "Twilight" character, Bella Swan. Stewart broke onto the scene in the early 2010s with her artistic interpretation of the awkward, vampire-loving lead; however, since then, Stewart has spent over a decade shedding the small town fashion choices of Bella. Since Bella lived in rainy Forks, Washington, it's fitting that her style has come to be known as "sad girl autumn." Bella loved comfortable jeans, moss-toned zip hoodies, brown sweaters, plaid shirts, long-sleeve t-shirts, and a sturdy backpack. There was nothing flashy or daring about Bella's wardrobe. (Though we have to say, her wedding dress from "Breaking Dawn" was pretty beautiful.) For day to day outfits, Bella avoided dresses and skirts. She barely wore makeup, and wore her brown hair long and natural.
Stewart, on the other hand, has climbed the ranks of sartorial power. The actor is daring, stylish, sexy, flashy, and bold... sometimes all at once! She has been one of the leading faces pioneering the no-pants trend – (Bella would never!) — showing us that pants are merely an option, even in the winter. She goes for plunging necklines, bold cut-outs, and edgy looks, things that Bella would simply hate. We're a long way from Forks now!
Bella would steer clear of Kristen Stewart's sheer dress
Kristen Stewart looked absolutely ravishing at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival Awards in 2022, where she was honored with the American Riviera Award for her outstanding achievement in film. She wore a long, black dress with sheer paneling, and ruffled details around her waist. For Bella Swan, however, the dress would have pushed her too far outside of her comfort zone. While speaking with Who What Wear in March 2024, Stewart describes her "Twilight" costumes, and says, "So Bella, she's just not much of a dress girl." It's safe to say Ms. Swan would not have been into this look.
A pink, metallic gown would have had Bella running ... away
At the 76th Venice Film Festival in August 2019, Kristen Stewart wore a pink, metallic dress by Chanel. The gown was floor-length and tiered, so it offered the full va-va-voom that one dreams of at red carpet events. To keep things from looking too precious, Stewart rocked a short, blonde hair style that gave the look a contemporary edge. Recalling that Bella Swan sported her long brown hair in unfussy, natural styles and didn't seek to be flashy with colors, everything about Stewart's look runs counter to Bella's taste.
Bella Swan would have worn jeans over Kristen Stewart's no-pants look
Bella Swan loved her jeans. Our favorite Forks-based fictional character sported an assortment of skinny jeans – to be fair, it was the late 2000s, after all — and some simple, flared denim. Kristen Stewart, on the other hand, has been on several occasions stepping out in public without any pants at all. In New York City in 2024, the star was spotted wearing Brunello Cucinelli knit briefs and heels. The look was a huge hit on the internet, with the underwear-as-outerwear trend taking off that year. Bella, always the shy one, would have run away screaming from all of the attention that Stewart's outfit caused.
Kristen Stewart's glamorous red carpet look would have been too much for Bella Swan
Anyone who has seen "Twilight" knows Bella Swan wasn't much for the glam scene (her gown at her own wedding to Edward was understated and simple). However, Stewart's Old Hollywood getup at the March 2022 Critic Choice Awards suggests that she doesn't mind at all. For the event, she wore a shimmering, champagne-toned column gown by Dolce & Gabbana with her blonde hair in a dramatic, side-swept tumble of curls that channeled Marilyn Monroe singing a husky "Happy Birthday" to JFK. It would have been too hot for our shy gal to handle.
Kristen Stewart's Chanel suit would have run counter to Bella Swan's style
The somber tones and black shoes on Kristen Stewart's 2024 Berlin Film Festival outfit might have been a draw for Bella Swan, who didn't wear heels and steered clear of bright colors. However, the multi-colored open concept jacket, complete with a matching skirt, knee-high, sheer stockings, and a visible, dusty blue bra would have been too eventful for dear Bella. Her preference would have been a cozy hoodie and maybe some mittens, too.
