Angelina Jolie Is Gorgeous Without Makeup

Angelina Jolie is a remarkable person. As an award-winning actress, film director, humanitarian, activist, and mother to six kids, Jolie has her plate full. Yet, somehow she always manages to excel in every avenue of her life while looking exquisite. While we should never reduce a woman to just her looks, it would simply be bad form not to point out that on top of everything Jolie is and all she does, she's one of the most beautiful women in the world.

Because her fans are so used to seeing Jolie rocking some of the best old Hollywood looks, often accompanied by a bold red lip, at award shows, premieres, and other events that are reasons for being dressed to the nines, it does make one wonder: Is this gorgeous human being just as stunning without all the bells and whistles that come with a full face of makeup? After all, some people look amazing without makeup, while others become completely unrecognizable. 

Granted, how Jolie looks sans makeup has nothing to do with her value or talent, but when someone is such a knockout, to the point where it feels almost unfair, it's normal to be curious about whether it's the makeup doing all the work or something else. Answer: In Jolie's case, it's something else.

In 2018, Angelina Jolie talked to InStyle about how she's never been a big fan of makeup (via E News). "I'm sure I had my moments when I was little where I would put makeup all over my face, but I was a bit of a tomboy," said Jolie. "I've never gone to a girlfriend's house and played with makeup. I'm not one of those women who say, 'Hey, let's have a night and do each other's hair.' I've never been that, but I find that really sweet."

Jolie also shared with InStyle the influence her mother, Marcheline Bertrand, had on her and the reality that it doesn't matter what you have on your face because the truth always comes out. "Whenever I'd get upset or something, she'd say, 'Let me see your soul'... There's nothing you could wear or put on your face to cover up if your mind is blank and your heart is dark," said Jolie, adding that when it comes to makeup, she's a minimalist. "I wear one color, red, and I have black eyeliner and mascara," said Jolie. "I have the most boring makeup kit." But when you have Jolie's natural features, who needs an exciting makeup kit? Looking breathtaking at all times is simply in her genes.
