Ariana Grande Is Stunning Without Makeup

Ariana Grande is everywhere in 2024. By the time she started subtly dressing as Glinda to promote "Wicked," she had already released her seventh album "Eternal Sunshine" and found her love life as fodder for the rumor mill when she divorced Dalton Gomez, then started dating Ethan Slater. It's been a pretty busy year for Grande, to say the least, and even if one wanted to ignore her, it would be impossible.

Although the past few years have brought a softer-looking Grande — with lighter colors and a less severe hairstyle — the star is still a big fan of makeup. So much so that in 2021 she launched a makeup line called REM Beauty — which is dedicated to all things "Wicked," so everything is pink and green. "[I want people] to feel like their most beautiful, honest, and expressed self," Grande told Glamour in 2022 about REM Beauty. "I think makeup is about self-expression. It's not about following trends per se. The point of it is to express yourself and feel beautiful. It's personal."

But as much as Grande clearly loves makeup and the way it makes her feel, when she ditches the makeup, she's stunning. In fact, she might be even lovelier sans product because you get to see that perfect complexion of hers.

Ariana Grande used to hide behind makeup

It might be surprising to know, but Ariana Grande wasn't always as comfortable in her skin as she is these days. It's only been in recent years that she's been able to let a lot of insecurities go and embrace who she really is. In September 2023, Grande talked to Allure about how her relationship with makeup has changed since she was a kid and where she is now with it.

"I, over the years, used makeup as a disguise or as something to hide behind. More and more and more hair, more and more thicker — the eyeliner — and that can be so beautiful at times, and I still do have love for it," Grande told the magazine, adding that age and maturity has made her realize she no longer likes makeup for the intention of hiding. "I think of it as self-expression now and accentuating what is here," said Grande.

In the same interview, Grande also talked about the lip fillers and Botox treatments she got for so many years and how she finally stopped all the injections in 2018. Again, she pointed to her need to hide for why she started doing fillers and Botox in the first place. "For a long time, beauty was about hiding for me," Grande told Allure. "And now I feel like maybe it's not."

Ariana Grande has a fairly simple skincare routine

If you think Ariana Grande has some 10-step skincare routine, you'd be mistaken. In fact, her flawless skin is the result of only three steps. "I know it's hard because we get tired, but scrubbing your face, washing your face — taking a towel in the shower and actually scrubbing your face — and then moisturizing," Grande told PopSugar in 2018, per Insider. According to Truly Beauty, Grande's moisturizer of choice is La Mer, which she combines with an SPF. Grande also stands by lotion-use even when she has a breakout because acne solutions can dry out skin.

Grande finishes her routine with her final step — and one that's super affordable. "You know what I actually use on my face as well as my body? I feel like people would think it would make you break out, but it doesn't make you break out: coconut oil! Like, cooking oil," Grande told Byrdie, per Women's Health. "I put it everywhere — in my hair, on my body. It's the answer."

Although this routine, including the coconut oil is working for Grande, you don't want to start slathering it all over your body without doing a patch test to make sure you're not allergic. If everything appears and feels fine, then maybe adopting Grande's three-step skincare routine is exactly what your complexion needs for a super fresh, clean look.
