6 Trendy Haircuts You'll Be Seeing Everywhere In 2025
Shake out those tresses because 2025 is all about hair. We're talking big, voluminous, bouncy hair that isn't demure. While 2024 was big on fringe, wolf cuts, and lived in looks (that actually took a lot of work!), 2025 is serving glossy, deliberate, and gorgeously styled cuts. That's not to say that only long hair is in. Oh no. For the girlies who love bobs and short cuts, there's a lot of space for new styling trends around these lobs, bobs, and cropped hair.
It'll come as no surprise that Sabrina Carpenter is a major inspiration for many of the hair trends of 2025. The Shangri-La haircut, with its full layers and curtain bangs, took off like wild fire thanks to the "Espresso" singer. Her Hollywood lob, in luminescent blonde like Marilyn Monroe's color, also became a retro trend that Carpenter brought back. Visualizing Carpenter's all-out glamour and unapologetic effort when it comes to her hair is a good way to prep for these newest trends.
To nail the hair movement of 2025, Women.com spoke exclusively with Gretchen Friese, BosleyMD Trichologist, and Kate Johnson, professional hair stylist, makeup artist, and Founder of the Bridal Beauty Team and Glossed Finishing Studio. These two pros walked us through the forecasted hair trends — from bangs, to bobs, and long hair — and which cuts to leave behind.
Big, bouncy curls and long layers are coming back
Shiny, pretty curls are where its at in 2025. Professional hairstylist Gretchen Friese told Women.com that for medium and long hair, the trend was "big bouncy 'Victoria Secret Hair' styles – think Sabrina Carpenter." What's so fun about these curls is that they require such retro forms of styling. Use a barrel roller, pin curls, or a hot roller set to achieve the desired results on long layers, and look into the tricks required to make curls hold their volume. 2024 was all about the Wolf cut, and while it was certainly distinctive, the shaggy, textured do is out. But not to worry. Friese explained that even for those who went the shaggier route last year, getting big, bouncy curls in 2025 is easy. "With people growing out the Wolf cuts they got last year, this style can be an easy transformation," she said.
The French Bob is the cool-girl queen of 2025
In terms of shorter hair trends for 2025, the French bob reigns supreme as one of the most sought-after cuts. "The 'French Bob' is going to be popular in the coming year," Gretchen Friese told Women.com exclusively. "As people are going shorter more often these days and looking for a sleek style with less texture." What makes the French bob so beautiful is that it's softer and rounder than traditional bobs. It has easy texture thanks to light layering, and it plays well with bangs.
Thick bangs are a great way to make a statement
Bangs are having their own moment in 2025, and it's no wonder. They flatter most face shapes and frame features. Expert Gretchen Friese told Women.com that "a more thick or blunt fringe style" would be the most coveted new looks. Thicker bangs add volume and dimension. "This style of bang can go well with both the bigger bouncy style and the French bob," she added, so it's possible to nail more than one trend this year. Pronounced bangs are the new iteration of this style as we move away from the wispy shag of 2024.
The Italian bob is back
The French bob is in good company in 2025, because the Italian bob is another treasure for short hair lovers. Expert Kate Johnson told Women.com why the Italian bob was her projection for evolving hair trends. "Forget the long bob, we're going short again to just below the ear or chin length," Johnson began. "The bottom will be blunt, but many will be growing out those wolf cuts so you may see shaggy layers to bring volume and movement." Johnson explained why the Italian bob was such a great option. "It's easy, it's chic and with fashion trends leaning toward exaggerated looks such as extra wide leg pants, keeping the hair just as exaggerated, but chic is the perfect balance," she explained. The Italian bob is longer than the French bob, of course, but both offer sophisticated cuts for those who like it short.
Curtain bangs are coming with us into the new year
While blunt bangs are inching their way in as the darlings of 2025, curtain bangs aren't ready to pull away yet. In fact, expert Kate Johnson told Women.com that all kinds of bangs are going to be trending hard in the new year. "Curtain or Blunt, whichever suits your face framing and flows with the rest of your hair style," Johnson said when we asked which one we should lean into. "It's all about layers and structure. It's a 'style' and structure, a distinct choice of look vs. the 'effortless' trend that we have gotten used to the last couple years."
Johnson added a really interesting point. "Honestly I think people are tired of TRYING to look effortless," she said. "It's a lot of work! If you're going to put that much effort into your look you might as well create art." She nailed the hair mantra for 2025 on the head. It's all about owning the hard work of styling. With no more pretending, hair trends are blatantly showing the effort that went into creating them.
The '90s blowout is perfection
The '90s have been having a big moment in the last few years, and this Y2K influence isn't dying down. In fact, '90s style blowouts are back in a big way. Kate Johnson told Women.com that it was all about volume. "BIG BIG BIG! Think 1994 Cindy Crawford blow outs – the epitome of 'supermodel' level impact. I'm just so excited for this to be back."
Johnson offered some advice, too. For those with thinner hair, this is a great moment to consider getting extensions, because the volume is going to feel empowering. Better than anything, Johnson stressed that this 2025 hair trend had healthy and social benefits, too. "Blowout Bars are the new social hour and a way to maintain glamour for a week at an affordable rate," she said. "Your grandma got her hair washed and curl set each week for years while catching up with the latest and greatest. Treat yourself to this little luxury while an expert keeps your hair healthy." That sounds like a wonderful plan.
