Here's What Went Down With Blinger Hair Gems After Shark Tank
The Blinger Hair tool shined when it was presented by mother-daughter duo Angie and Cambrie Cella during season 15 of "Shark Tank." The tool allows people to attach gems, crystals and pearls into their hair by loading them into a cartridge. The Blinger is then placed around the hair and clamps down to attach the accessories without the use of any heat.
According to the brand's website, Angie came up with the idea to create the Blinger and went through five engineering firms before a "viable prototype" was created. After being rejected by multiple investors, primarily due to her debt, the single-mom of four talked with her daughters about selling their home to fund her venture, which was heavily supported by her eldest daughter Cambrie.
While renting a townhome, Angie was finally able to start manufacturing the Blinger. And in October 2018, she brought her tool to the Dallas Toy Fair and the Women in Toys event where they were a hit. By the time her company appeared on "Shark Tank," they had already become a recognizable name, amassing $3 million in sales in 2023.
What happened to Blinger on Shark Tank?
When Angie and Cambrie Cella presented their product on "Shark Tank," they asked for $200,000 for 5% equity in Blinger. The pair brought lots of laughter to the high stakes environment as shark Kevin O'Leary wore a blonde wig while fellow shark Lori Griener used the tool on him.
According to the "Shark Tank Recap" blog, a fan managed site that is not officially affiliated with the show, Angie hoped to catch a shark when she told them that Blinger had made $20 million in sales for a toy company through a licensing deal, which changed her family's life, but her product was knocked off, so she parted ways with the company. She added that in the months before filming, they had made $1.6 million in sales, but were projected to close at $4.2 million with a $1.5 million profit. The drastic change in numbers came after she ended their licensing deal with the toy company.
Unfortunately, several of the other sharks felt Angie "wasn't in a position to accept an investor," partially due to the business' lack of organization. Cella herself even admitted during her pitch that she lacked business experience and did not want to act as CEO of the company. However, Barbara Corcoran took a bite and agreed to $200,000 for 25% equity, plus funding all purchase orders after initially bowing out. In the end, the business owners agreed Corcoran was the best choice to invest in their company. The fellow sharks also believed Corcoran was the best shark for the job and encouraged the pair to take her deal. And not only was Corcoran investing her money, she hoped to invest her experience as she said she would help the new entrepreneurs rework their business plan.

Blinger continued to shine after their appearance on "Shark Tank." According to the show's blog, they sell over 2,000 units a month on Amazon. And their gems have been worn by stars like Serena Williams, Sheryl Lee Ralph, Pink and Alicia Keys. The tool has been featured on CBS, "Entertainment Tonight" and QVC to name a few.
Blinger has nearly 13,000 followers on its Instagram page where it shows followers how to create trendy and unique looks with their products. One post shows how to place pearls or crystals in your hair for a twist on an elegant bridal look. Blinger also encouraged Swifties to use the kits to showcase their concert style during "The Eras" tour.
The kits, which come in versions for adults and children, retail between $35-$79 with the adult version coming with real Swarovski crystals. Refill packs range from $10-$30. And Blinger also provides wholesale options. So it appears that Barbara Corcoran was just the shark they needed!
A leap of faith
In addition to creating a successful business, Angela Cella is also a published author. The entrepreneur has made it very clear that she is a woman of faith, particularly when she called her product a message from God. So, it is no surprise that she named her book "Blinger: An Entrepreneur's Faith-Based Journey." According to an Amazon listing, Cella's book, which was published in 2021, is about how faith led her on a journey to create the life that she always envisioned she could have. At the time of writing, the book has a five-star rating on Amazon.
In one Instagram posted on Cella's personal account, the author wrote, "Writing a book is a labor of love, and I learned this first hand over the past two years. I am so excited to finally introduce the finished copy and take you on the next steps of my journey!"
