Coordinated friend outfits serve as an unexpected addition to the list, with Pinterest dubbing the fashion fad "seeing double." There are already tons of "best friends don't copy, they match" videos on TikTok, but social media users aren't the only ones adding to the trend. 

While celebrity couples are most known for rocking matching ensembles, with Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake's all-denim look from the early 2000s being an infamous example, platonic Hollywood duos have similarly given their stamp of approval to the fad. In fact, celebrity BFFs have been coordinating colors and sharing styles for decades, with some of your favorite figures taking part in the fashion fun. 

While the new year might be all about seeing double, Hollywood icons Salma Hayek and Penélope Cruz nailed this rising trend all the way back in 2000 when they attended the 72nd Annual Academy Awards. Both actors wore floor-length gowns with satin finishes, styling their dresses with complementary sheer wraps. While there was definitely cohesion between the besties, who have been friends since the beginning of Cruz's Hollywood career, each of their outfits maintained a distinct identity.
