The 2025 Bangs Trends That Will Upgrade Your Hair Looks
If you want to take your 2025 hair look to the next level, you simply can't go wrong with a bit of fringe. No matter your age, bangs are a fantastic idea — if you're willing to commit to them. Because not only do they take quite a while to grow out but, depending on what kind you get, they can require some serious maintenance — some more than others, of course.
We were lucky to be treated to a variety of haircuts that included fringe in 2024. Curtain bangs were a big trend that could be easily paired with so many different haircuts, while the fob cut featured tini microbangs that gave off a retro vibe. While the 1970s style fringe is still very much en vogue, it's not the only style that will be stopping traffic this year. To help you start your 2025 off with a bang (ha!), Women exclusively spoke to Keranique Expert, Celebrity Makeup Artist and Stylist and Bestselling Author of "The Beauty Blueprint," Michelle Phillips, and founder and CEO at Laced Hair, Lacy Gadegaard-West, about the fringe trends to try this year.
Relaxed curtain bangs
Like we said, you just can't escape curtain bangs and that's a good thing. No matter your hair texture or whatever cut you're rocking, curtain bangs just work, bringing a soft, carefree vibe to your look. "Curtain bangs aren't going anywhere, but in 2025, they'll be even softer and more natural-looking," Michelle Phillips exclusively tells Women. "They'll have a loose, grown-out vibe with gentle layers that frame the face perfectly. This style works for just about anyone and doesn't need much upkeep, which is a win for busy schedules."
Relaxed curtain bangs also means you can finally put down the hairdryer and/or curling iron. This brand of curtain bangs means less maintenance, as Phillips points out, which is a relief for those who like the effortlessly chic look.
Edgy micro bangs
Micro bangs were huge in the early 2000s. In fact, so much so that almost every manic pixie girl in every movie from that era either had micro bangs herself or, if she didn't, she was certainly best friends with someone in the film who did. If you missed that window of micro bangs, you're in luck because they're here for 2025. "Micro bangs are making a comeback, but this time they're all about texture," says Michelle Phillips. "Instead of the super blunt cut, we'll see more razored, choppy edges for a cool, modern look. These short bangs are perfect for someone who wants to stand out and add a little attitude to their hairstyle."
Wispy bangs
For those who don't care for the intense look that comes with both blunt power bangs and edgy mircro bangs, wispy bangs are a great choice — especially because they work with any hair texture or length. "Perfect for longer layers they're light and airy, so usually they aren't too annoying in the humidity, they [also] draw attention to the eyes without fully overwhelming the face, which makes them match most face shapes," says Lacy Gadegaard-West. "[It's] a fun way to add a subtle change without removing too much length off of your hair."
Wispy is also a low-maintenance bang style that easily changes up your look without too much commitment. For those who don't have the time or energy to fight with the curling iron and hair wax every morning, wispy bangs are ideal.
Blunt power bangs
One of the most striking bang out there is the blunt power bang. It's a look that everyone from to Nicki Minaj to Beyoncé to Belle Hadid has rocked at some point not only because they're gorgeous, but send a message: "Don't mess with me, because I mean business." Even before Taylor Swift decided on her signature bangs, she also gave the blunt bang a whirl too. So to see that they're not only not going away, but getting an upgrade is exciting news blunt bang-lovers.
"Blunt bangs are getting a polished update for 2025," says Michelle Phillips. "They'll be sleek, shiny, and pair perfectly with sharp bobs or straight, long hair. This look screams confidence and is great for anyone who wants a bold, put-together vibe." To make sure they stay as sleek and shiny as possible, talk to your hairstylist about what products are best for your hair texture.
Face framing layered bangs
If you have a fear of how bangs will look on you, then you can ease your way into them through the use of hair extensions. Yes, hair extensions aren't just about adding inches or, in some cases, feet to your hair, but can be great for bangs too.
"Hair extensions have never gone out of style and they never will," says Lacy Gadegaard-West. "Face framing layers with extensions can appear like bangs in contrast to the fuller and/or longer hair that extensions provide." Also, the best part about opting for face framing layers is that they draw attention to all your facial features, instead of highlighting just one, bringing everything together to create a beautiful continuity.
