Pamela Anderson's Gorgeous Short Hair Look Is An Unforgettable Throwback

Pamela Anderson once had short hair, which seems mind-boggling. The actor's long, blond hair was such a vibe that the Pamela updo became its own self-generating tutorial on the internet. Whether she wore it in bombshell curls or tousled on the top of her head, Anderson's hair had a celebrity status of its own. So it's easy to forget that the "Baywatch" star once rocked a pixie cut. Her short hair was first photographed in October 2013, just before she ran the New York City marathon a month later. Anderson appeared on "The Ellen Show" right after, and joked with host Ellen DeGeneres that she had stolen the comedian's haircut. "Was that to be more aerodynamic so you could run faster?" DeGeneres joked, referencing the marathon. Anderson laughed and then got serious. "My hair had had a life, and I wanted to put that behind me and start fresh," she explained.

Anderson loves changing her looks. While in the 2020s, Anderson is famous for going makeup free, and looking gorgeous all the same, she also joined the ranks of celebrities who gave us great short hair inspo thanks to an iconic pixie cut. In fact, the more we look at Anderson's throwback 'do from 2013, the more we're sure it'll amp up as one of the short hair trends that we won't be able to avoid. While it's all fun and trendy, Anderson's surprising cut was very symbolic for her, as it marked a shedding old life chapters and a move toward embracing the future.

Pamela Anderson hid behind her long hair

When Pamela Anderson cut her hair in 2013, she spoke about how empowering it felt to let go of her long-time iconic style. "It just feels healthy and [like] something new," she told The Cut in November 2013. "I was getting a little bored with my hair. It's kind of a symbolic thing, just getting rid of the past, moving forward." The actor was at a point in her life when those former identities weren't serving her anymore. She went on to talk about how much she used her long hair to conceal herself. "I hid behind my hair. And then, I just decided I was okay with myself. To have short hair and really show my face, is even more revealing than anything. It's a statement — not to everyone else, more to myself."

It was certainly a transformative moment for the star, but one that didn't need to last, because she has since grown out her hair. However, what is interesting is that nearly a decade later, Anderson started stepping out without any makeup on her face. If her hair became a shield from the world, perhaps the more contemporary form of that became makeup. It just goes to show that the actor is always finding new ways to be authentic.
