When you're younger, you have this glamorous idea of what it means to be an "adult." You think that by 25, you'll be married, climbing the career ladder at your dream job, and have a kid. Or a mortgage. Or even just a dog.
But life isn't like the movies and we can't all be living in penthouse suites in Manhattan fresh out of college like we're living in Gossip Girl or Sex and the City.
In reality, most of us don't have a clue what we're doing.
When you're in your twenties, you might be burdened by student loan debt and forced to move back home with your parents. Maybe you're stuck working a low paying retail job to make ends meet. Or maybe you just feel lost and alone because all your friends have moved away and seem to be doing SO much better than you are on social media.
Whatever the case, having a bit of a quarter-life crisis is perfectly normal. In fact, plenty of successful people fell on hard times in their 20s before rising to the top:
The hilarious comedian/ actress wasn't always an SNL icon. Wiig actually dropped out of school and worked as a painter and waitress in Los Angeles while pursuing her acting career.
Fey might be one of the most successful comedians out there, but she didn't always have it so easy. The SNL veteran writer held countless part-time jobs including working the front desk at the local YMCA and performing stand-up in Chicago coffee shops.
The legendary Lady Gaga actually found herself battling drug addiction in her early 20s as she climbed her way to the top of the pop charts.
Oprah might be a household name now, but she was once fired from her evening news spot and demoted to a daytime position that would eventually lead her to start The Oprah Winfrey Show
J.K. Rowling is one of the most beloved authors of all time, but when she first began writing the acclaimed Harry Potter series, she was a broke single mother battling depression.
So the next time you're feeling down about your current struggles, just remember... you're in famous company.
