6 Makeup Products You Won't Regret Buying
I can always count on them to get the job done!
Best Makeup Products to Invest In
Makeup is not my forte.
I gave up attempting to paint my face every morning when I was in middle school. Once I realized that no one could tell whether or not I was wearing makeup, I ditched my beauty routine so I could sleep in.
As I've grown older, not much has changed. I still don't wear a ton of makeup, nor do I get all dolled up every morning. When I do, I tend to use the same products.
Though I have makeup bags filled with all sorts of amazing and unique items, I stick to the ones I know best.
For those of you who are like me, stingy and not the biggest beauty buffs, you'll enjoy these products, too. Scroll below to check them out!
Oxygenetix Acne Control Foundation
I don't know how to apply foundation correctly. I either put on way too much or not enough, and up until a few years ago, I was applying it with my hands for convenience. I'm 26. Now I smear it all over my face with a unicorn horn makeup brush some company gifted me, which is the right way to do it—or so I hear. Regardless, this Oxygenetix product is the greatest foundation I've ever used.
Originally designed to be used by patients who were recovering from plastic surgery, it's an oxygen-enriched foundation that minimize patients' scarring and discomfort. Because of this, it's a totally breathable formula that doesn't feel cakey, no matter how much you put on. If I really wanted to, I could apply six layers of this foundation and I wouldn't even feel it.
Not only that, you can sleep in it. I still do sometimes, because my skincare routine also needs work, and it hasn't negatively impacted my complexion as far as I can tell. Yes, I still get acne, but it's usually hormonal or due to the unnecessary amount of stress I put myself through. I can guarantee it doesn't come from sleeping in this acne control foundation.
My only wish is that their foundation colors were a little more inclusive, a la Rihanna's Fenty Beauty.
Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara
This mascara costs $24. Never in my life did I ever think I would invest in a mascara this expensive. I was just fine using the most inexpensive one I could get my hands on to fan out my lashes, and then this beauty found its way into my life and I never looked back. Yes, I still use the cheap stuff from time to time, but I save Better Than Sex for the times I need it most.
While using it isn't better than having sex (which I can wholeheartedly attest to), it is by far the best mascara I've ever used on my eyelashes. The way it fans them out without leaving any excess goop is truly incredibly.
Wet n Wild Color Icon Glitter Single-Bleached
Glitter is a staple anytime I go out on the town, which doesn't happen all that often, so don't get too excited. But when I want to elevate my everyday makeup look, I add some sparkle. This little container from Wet n Wild has been my favorite since I first purchased it at 9 years old. It stays on no matter what, doesn't feel too heavy or sticky, and is as cheap as it gets. It only costs 99 cents. How could you say no?!
Covergirl Clean Pressed Powder
Covergirl is another lifelong brand I've kept in my makeup arsenal for years. In particular, their pressed powder. As someone who has uncontrollably oily skin, this is a lifesaver. With just one pat, my complexion looks like a porcelain doll. My skin shines bright, but not because of all the oil escaping my pores. This powder doesn't clog those bad boys, which is also nice for someone who often forgets to wash their face.
Again, I do wish their range of colors was more expansive, so maybe 2019 will be that year. After all, they're officially a cruelty-free brand, so maybe inclusivity is on the docket for the new year.
Sun Bum Lip Balm
I've used many different lip balms and chapsticks in my life, but none have moisturized my dry kisser quite like Sun Bum has. Sure, I'll use whatever I can get my hands on, but I prefer to use this brand. It not only works, but it has a delicious coconut flavor that I am a huge fan of. I don't like when chapstick tastes like chapstick, if that makes sense.
Clean & Clear Oil Absorbing Facial Blotting Sheets
Again, my face is as oily as it gets. These oil blotting sheets come in handy when I don't have my powder on me. Though not technically a makeup product, I depend on them more than I should. While I've listed the Clean & Clear ones here, any and every type of oil blotting sheets I've used generally worked. I'm only impartial to Clean & Clear because it's the basis of my childhood.
