Who is Amy Acker? We're dying to know!

Meet the Woman Playing Derek's Fourth Sister on 'Grey's Anatomy'

Grey's Anatomy fans have been aching over Derek Shepherd's (Patrick Dempsey) death ever since his departure in season 10. With the survival of Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) and his sister, Amelia (Caterina Scorsone) on the leading medical drama, fans can't help but feel curious when anything Derek-related pops up in later seasons.

Recently, ABC announced that they were on the hunt for Derek's fourth sister, Kathleen Shepherd. Now, we know that she has been confirmed. Kathleen will be played by Amy Acker. While fans of Angel certainly thought that this casting was a match made in heaven, other fans are left wondering: who is Amy Acker?

Well, if you're curious, then keep on reading. Here's everything you need to know about the actress and her role on Grey's Anatomy season 15.

What Have You (Probably) Seen Amy Acker?

If you feel like Acker looks familiar, it's probably because you've seen her before on another project.

Per her IMDB page, Acker has been acting since 1997.

Since her debut on Wishbone, Acker has starred in classic shows like 2001's Angel as Illyria, 2005's Alias as Kelly Peyton, and 2009's Dollhouse as Dr. Claire Saunders. Now, Acker is playing Caitlin Strucker on Marvel's The Gifted, opposite Stephen Moyer.

How Long Will Acker Be on 'Grey's Anatomy'?

According to Deadline, Acker will be guest starring as Kathleen on Grey's Anatomy for the upcoming episode that is centered entirely on Amelia Shepherd.

The episode was confirmed earlier this year after ABC upped the episode count for season 15 by 3 episode, making this season the longest Grey's Anatomy has had in over a decade.

Unfortunately, we don't know the details of the episode, nor do we know when the episode will air or if Acker's storyline will extend past the Amelia-centric episode. However, we do know that the standalone episode is something to look forward to.
