The 5 Songs Grey's Anatomy Has Completely Ruined For You

The Top 5 Songs Grey's Anatomy Has Ruined For You, Ranked
Grey's Anatomy might have a killer playlist, but some songs completely destroy us because they're associated with some pretty traumatic moments! So, here are 5 songs Grey's Anatomy has completely ruined for you! And don't forget to vote for the most (and least) life-ruining song for you so that your voice is heard, too!
Breathe (2 AM) - Anna Nalik

First fittingly used in Season 2, Episode 17, where Mer pulls the bomb out of the patient and hands it to the bomb squad guy (we were all collectively holding our breath), but then heart wrenchingly brought out again in Season 7, Episode 18 in the musical episode following Callie and Arizona's car crash. Every time we hear this so we just know something bad is gonna happen! Check out the vid here.
In My Veins - Andrew Belle

From the shocker that was the shooting episode (Season 6, Episode 24), this song reduced us to snivelling wrecks as it played whilst Charles Percy died. When Bailey realized that the elevator's weren't on and there was no way to get him to the OR, we just about lost it, and now we'll always have this song to remind us of our despair. Yay! Relive the scene here.
Keep Breathing - Ingrid Michaelson

Season 3, Episode 25 - Burke has just left Christina at the altar and our perceptions of her as an unshakeable, unmovable rock are forever shattered as see her truly showing emotion for what is essentially the first time. Although this was a necessary turning point in Christina's character development, teaching her that she couldn't give away pieces of herself to fit into the role of the 'perfect girlfriend', this song and this scene still left us reeling. Remind yourself of the moment here.
How to Save A Life - The Fray

Perhaps the "unofficial anthem" of Grey's, this song was first used in Season 2, Episode 21 but became firmly associated with Grey's when it was used as the teaser track for Season 3 promotional trailers. It was also another song that featured in the musical episode as the doctors sang over Callie whilst her baby was delivered, another hugely emotional moment. Generally, this song isn't just associated with one particular scene though, but the show as a whole, so every time we hear it we get brought back to every emotional moment of this damn show. And to add insult to injury, it was also the title of the episode where Derek died. Cue the tears here.
Chasing Cars - Snow Patrol

Speaking of Derek's death, this song was irrevocably destroyed for us when it played in Season 11, Episode 21 during Mer and Derek's final moment together (remind yourself here). This would have been awful enough as it is, but the song had already been completely ruined when Shonda used it in Season 2, Episode 27 (see here) when Izzie wouldn't let go of Denny's cold, dead body, and Alex had to scoop her off the bed into his arms. Oh and it obviously featured in the musical episode too (see here), so yeah, we're emotionally ruined for life now.
