About Emma Broyles
On the night of the 100th Anniversary Miss America competition, representing the state of Alaska, Emma Broyles made history for becoming the first Miss Alaska and first Korean-American to be crowned Miss America! As 2022 Miss America, Broyles, 20, was awarded $100,000 in scholarship assistance for winning. She will earn a six-figure salary, benefits, and travel almost 20,000 miles per month.
Broyles plans to use her national platform to advocate for Building Community through Special Olympics. She chose Special Olympics because her older brother has Down syndrome. Through the practice of inclusion, she aims to help people from all walks of life be heard and respected.

Emma will be sharing her personal journey with Women.com about how she is destigmatizing today’s pressing mental health issues. Due to the mental health epidemic, Broyles will be opening up about her personal challenges with ADHD and dermatillomania. She will be sharing how she overcame her mental health struggles to chase her dreams.
“Being crowned 2022 Miss America is an incredible dream come true. As a Korean-American, I am so grateful for the opportunity to compete alongside so many brilliant, talented women. I hope to live up to the legacy, serve as a positive role model for women of all ages and make the Miss America Organization proud. It’s been an honor to represent the great state of Alaska and I look forward to making a significant impact through my social impact initiative on the national stage.”
Miss America 2022, Emma Broyles is pursuing a career in medicine as a pre-med at Barrett, The Honors College, at Arizona State University. She is majoring in Biomedical Sciences with a minor in Voice Performance. She intends to be a dermatologist in the future
