Court Shoes Aren't Going Anywhere For 2024 — Our Tips On Styling Them

As timeless as they are, it's safe to say that court shoes fell out of favor before 2024 rolled around. The first part of 2023 was more about engineer boots, white flats, and Mary Janes, but now court shoes are ready to make their big comeback after peering back into fashion in the latter months of the year.

Court shoes were all over the big runways during fashion shows showing us what would be big from autumn 2023 into winter 2024, with the likes of Christopher Kane, Moschino, and Tory Burch all putting models in the sophisticated shoe. Prada was another of the big names who showed off the court on the runway. That's how we know this footwear style won't be going anywhere as we head into the new year.

But there are so many variations on the court shoe that come in even more textures and colors, from embellishments galore to nothing at all. So what's the best way to style them in a modern way? We've compiled a few of our very favorite styling tips to wear your court shoes for any occasion.

Stick with black for demure workwear

You can't go wrong with a black court shoe when it comes to workwear. For those who work in environments that require a more formal outfit choice, black courts are perfect because they can be paired with so many different clothing items. From tailored pants and a shirt to a dress or a pencil skirt, this shoe is classic and timeless, so you'll probably find yourself getting a whole lot of use out of them.

Try court shoe bows for a fun girls night look

Ready for a fun night out in your courts? Then bring a bow! Bows are a big trend for shoes in 2024, and all too often they pop up on our classic pointy-toed kicks. The reason a bow is so perfect for a girls' night? "They immediately make your shoes the focus of your outfit," Laura Schofield, founder of Otto And Ivy founder, told Women & Home. Not to mention, they add a subtle dose of fun to your more sophisticated courts. A well-placed bow can also bring a whole lot of confidence. "They're also incredibly flattering on my customers with larger feet because it's all about balancing proportions," Schofield said.

Or party down in something metallic

Heading to a party where you want all eyes on you? Then metallic courts could be the way to go! Metallic shoes have been making a comeback throughout 2023 and that seems to be continuing into 2024. Metallic is also a quirky way to make your courts a little more fun. As Margaret Stone, a personal stylist and founder of My Happy Closet, told Business Insider, "Having that little sparkle and shine will add some spice to your look." And a little extra shimmer and shine never go a miss at a party, right?

But courts can be casual, too!

Though court shoes have a bit more of a formal reputation (thanks largely to them being a favorite to the likes of Kate Middleton), they can also work with a more casual outfit, too. Pair a bright pair with jeans for a pop of color and a stylish juxtaposition between casual and classic. And if you're looking for a more matchy-matchy look, then bring that color into your look again with a blazer or jacket in the same shade. This style can be a great everyday look for everything from running errands to heading out to lunch.

And they can even be styled for the winter months

You'd be forgiven for thinking court shoes aren't winter shoes — but you couldn't be more wrong! Courts can work just as well in the winter as they do in the summer if you style them right. To stay warmer in the colder months of 2024, throw on a pair of simpler courts with some hosiery for a winter-appropriate style, perfect for almost any event the season might throw at you. A bold pair with an all-black ensemble is a great way to inject some color into those chilly months.
