Taylor Swift's Most Iconic Moments Rocking Her Naturally Curly Hair

If there are three things Taylor Swift is probably most famous for, it has to be her music, her classic red lip, and (at least in the earlier days of her career) her stunning blonde curls. The country-superstar-turned-pop-icon has absolutely gorgeous natural waves, which actually became a staple of her look during her early eras — and even a couple of times later on in her career.

The reason she ditched the iconic ringlets, though? Well, it turns out it actually wasn't on purpose. "From birth, I had the curliest hair and now it is straight. It's the straight hair I wished for every day in junior high. But just as I was coming to terms with loving my curls, they've left me," Swift explained to Elle back in 2019. "Please pray for their safe return," she added. Oh, we will.

But instead of just crossing our fingers and hoping for the best when it comes to Swift's iconic curls making a comeback, we're sort of manifesting it at the same time. Which is oh so Swiftie of us, we know. And one way we're doing that is by looking back at some of her most iconic naturally curly hair moments over the years. So drop everything now, because we're going on a curl journey.

Taylor Swift let her natural curls shine through on one of her first red carpets

We're going to start by throwing things back. And we mean way back. One of Taylor Swift's first major red carpets was at the 2006 Academy of Country Music Awards, where Miss Americana walked the orange carpet in cowboy boots (of course). We don't think anyone could have been looking at her shoes though, because her stunning natural textured hair took center stage as she wore it down and let it do its thing. In the words of the lady herself, you're so gorgeous!

A 2017 video featuring her curls had fans spiraling (in a good way)

Not long before announcing the "Reputation" era, Taylor Swift sent fans into meltdown mode when she wore her natural curls in an updo an August 2017 Twitter/X video congratulating the NBA's Most Valuable Player, Russell Westbrook. This was the first time fans had seen her natural curls properly in a while, and the reason it's so iconic is because it had fans predicting what was to come. "I'm expecting ... curly hair for this next era! coz its a snake! hahaha #TS6IsComing," one person wrote on the social media site. Oh, if only they knew!

The DGAF natural curls of the Reputation Era were totally iconic

As some predicted, when it came time to drop "Reputation" in 2017, Taylor Swift was all about the iconic natural curls. Swift (who also looks absolutely stunning without makeup, by the way) rocked her textured locks in several promotional photos for the album, and, potentially most famously, in the music video for the scathing "Look What You Made Me Do." Stunning natural hair and plenty of sass to match? Count us in!

Taylor Swift embraced natural curls again in 2024 (and new love)

When Taylor Swift hit the headlines for her romance with Travis Kelce, her natural curls appeared to make more of an appearance. One of the most famous was in January 2024 when she watched her man and his team, the Kansas City Chiefs, win the playoffs that sent them through to the Superbowl. One of favorite things about this? When one fan shared on Twitter/X, "I'm going to believe that Travis told Taylor he loves her natural curls so that's why she wore it natural to the game." Us too, us too.

The natural curls also returned for the Eras Tour Australia

In February 2024, Taylor Swift's curls made another rare appearance while she spent some time Down Under in Sydney for her crazy successful "Eras Tour." Swift was spotted dining with the tour's opening act, Sabrina Carpenter, and proved her natural curls aren't totally gone as she let them reign. And fans were pretty darn happy to see them back. "As someone who has a convoluted relationship with their curls seeing taylor wear her natural curls more often makes me feel so seen," one fan even wrote on Twitter/X. Anyone for a curl summer?
