A New Steamy Romance Book From This Fan-Favorite Author Is Blowing Up The Kindle Charts
Get ready romance book lovers, because we've got a steamy new novel you're going to love. That book is "King of Sloth" by Ana Huang, and it's been giving the buzzy pschycologial thriller "The Teacher" a run for its money on the Kindle charts. "King of Sloth" is so popular it was sitting pretty at the top of Amazon's list of 100 paid for Best Sellers in the Kindle Store just one day after it was released.
You may already be familiar with Huang, as she's the author behind the "If" series (including "If The Sun Never Sets" and "If Love Had A Price") as well as the "Twisted" series ("Twisted Love" and "Twisted Games"). You may be somewhat familiar with "King of Sloth" too, as the book is the fourth installment in Huang's "Kings of Sin" series.
This new book tells the story Xavier Castillo and Sloane Kensingston. Xavier is a super-rich bachelor who can woo pretty much any woman he wants, but finds himself having eyes for one woman he probably shouldn't ... his publicist, Sloane. Sloane's tasked with presenting Xavier, who's part of a crazy rich family, in a more wholesome light. Trust fund baby Xavier is used to the playboy lifestyle and Sloane is adamant she won't be sparking up a romance with him. In fact, she couldn't imagine anything worse. However, after the two experience a devastating tragedy, they find themselves getting closer than ever. But will Sloane find herself falling for her client's charms?
What readers are saying about King of Sloth
Despite only being released on April 30, BookTok and beyond is already full of positive reviews for "King of Sloth." "The thing I love most about this book is the emotional depth that we get to see of both characters and how they share it with each other," Instagram user @bookishelli wrote of the novel, giving it five out of five stars. They added that the two characters, though very different, bring out some of each other's best traits, noting, "Xavier shows Sloane how to be more carefree and stand up for herself more often and Sloane [strengthens Xavier's] ability to pursue his dreams and goals."
Others have also praised the obvious sexual tension between the two main characters that runs throughout the spicy romance book, as well as how things develop naturally between the will they/won't they couple. "Sloane and Xavier are just perfect, I have no words. From the first moment both of them were introduced in the book, I just knew the chemistry was going to be off the charts!!!" Instagram book lover @canasias.bookshelf wrote in their review. "They both just bring out the best in each other even though they're complete opposites." Readers have also praised the relatability of Sloane's character, and others shared how happy they were that Ana Huang didn't rely too heavily on the tired spoiled billionaire trope and actually gave Xavier some redeeming qualities that made him likable.
You don't need to read the entire Kings of Sin series to enjoy King of Sloth
We know what you're thinking, do you need to have read the other books in the "Kings of Sin" series to enjoy "King of Sloth"? Not necessarily. Many reviewers have shared how having read the other books, or at least the third in the series, "King of Pride," will provide some Easter Eggs for those who are familiar with the "Kings" world. But that doesn't mean "Kings of Sloth" can't work as a standalone book if you want to dive right in with the newest release. As anyone who has already read the books will know, Xavier has popped up in the series before (only, not as a main character), so knowing a little bit about him may give readers more of an insight into his personality. But it's not 100% a necessity to have done your homework before diving in.
It's also worth noting that "King of Sloth" doesn't mark the end of the series, so there will be plenty more to devour. There are actually three more books in the romance series that have already been confirmed, with Huang expected to release "King of Envy" in 2025, and "King of Gluttony" and "King of Lust" after that. Once you've finished "King of Sloth" though and are waiting for the rest of the books to be released, there are plenty of brand new novels to enjoy as you pass the time.
