Taylor Swift's Best Street Style Outfits Of 2024
Seeing as Taylor Swift is regularly dressed to the nines for work, we'd totally forgive this busy queen if she kept her everyday outfits comfy and casual. But if you've been following this pop icon for a while, you know that even when she's out grabbing coffee in New York, her outfits are on point. That's something she's proven multiple times in 2024.
We got a peek at how Swift dresses day-to-day in a cute YouTube Short posted in April. She looked gorgeous in a classic black crop top and light jeans, reminding us all that she knows how to make basics look super chic. The square neck garment brought structure to what would otherwise have been a forgettable, casual ensemble. Swift, who's rocked some super on-trend outfits in 2024, showed just a sliver of midriff, which kept her look modern and fresh — and that can be tough when acid-wash jeans are involved. We also saw her in a retro, '80s-inspired University of Kansas sweatshirt, which featured the college's name in bold, primary colors. Clearly, she's not afraid of embracing the nostalgia trend. But these outfits are just drops in the ocean of her 2024 street style portfolio, which contains some of her freshest looks to-date.
Her winter New York style was cool (in more ways than one)
In January, Taylor Swift said "Welcome To New York" with a long, brown wool coat layered over a knit green midi dress. She paired it with practical, patent black knee-high boots, and a deep orange Yves Saint Laurent handbag. The addition of the muted bag did just enough to inject a little vibrancy without stealing focus.
We adore this combo, not only because it gives us "Evermore" vibes, but because it proves a winter earth tone look doesn't have to be drab. The jewel tone green dress popped against the brown coat and brought out the cooler undertones in Swift's skin and hair. Swift also didn't go overboard trying to incorporate too many bright colors and tons of layers. We'll admit, Swift has had some outfits that just didn't work, but this wasn't one of them.
Her Coachella outfit was a sporty aesthetic dream
Taylor Swift stepped out with Travis Kelce for Coachella in April, and totally nailed the sporty spice fashion trend in the process. For her desert adventure, she opted for a short black mini skirt with a garter (very "Reputation" coded), a dark green tank top, and an oversized biker jacket. She wore practical, black Nike sneakers, a green baseball cap (with the name of Kelce's podcast "New Heights" on it), and a Stella McCartney cross-body bag. The reason this style was so on-point? It was the perfect synthesis of all the hottest athletic trends. Her sneakers gave us soccer star, her skirt and hat gave us tenniscore vibes, while her jacket embraced Formula 1 fashion.
But that's not all that caught our attention about this street look. It also marked a departure from her traditionally feminine, more delicate vibe. Instead, she appeared to be leaning into Kelce's style. The football star likes bold and brand-focused pieces, and it was adorable to see Swift dressed in a way that assimilated with her romance.
Taylor Swift's sneakers and oversized fleece confirmed she knows how to style herself
Three months before Coachella, in January, Taylor Swift did athleisure in a totally different way. The "Anti-Hero" hitmaker rocked a cream and dark beige zebra-print Adidas fleece with matching sneakers, black leggings, and a camo green top. Let's be honest, this could have easily gone wrong. The chunky fleece isn't the chicest thing she's ever worn, and leggings with sneakers can easily appear sloppy or underdressed. But, by doing a shade-perfect match between her outerwear to her footwear, she proved she really thought about what she was wearing. Swift also broke up the coordinated pieces up with black to ensure neither was too overwhelming.
We adore the styling here and how she balanced the volume of the jacket by wearing her hair in a ponytail. Had she worn her locks down and curled as well as her signature red lip, the ensemble may have come across as too 'done.' Plus, her dark shades added an element of effortless cool. Swift also opted for pulled up black socks over ankle socks; a popular fashion hack at the time to make clothing appear more youthful.
The velvet green dress was a bold choice, but the right one
Robin Hood or Taylor Swift? Miss Americana hit the sidewalk in New York City back in January earing a crushed velvet green skater dress with over-the-knee brown leather boots and sheer black pantyhose. She accessorized with three layered necklaces and a top-handle black bag. Though we wish she'd opted for a brown bag to match her footwear, we understand why she kept her pocketbook so simple. Swift's 'fit is attention-grabbing, and adding bold accessories may have been too much.
But opting for brown boots instead of black was inspired. The shade brought out the darker tones in her hair and made her locks appear almost brunette, while the complementary shades created a cohesive look. Equally, the warm/neutral green dress was so flattering for her coloring, giving her a healthy glow. This combination was certainly a risk though, and it divided fans. "I don't think I've ever hated one of her outfits this much," one fan commented on Instagram. But another had the exact opposite take. "This is one the best outfits she's ever worn, hot damn!" they wrote. Our opinion? This fashion risk totally paid off.
Her chic London outfit symbolized her evolving style
While out in London, Taylor Swift wore one of her chicest, most grown-up street outfits to date. She teamed a black corset top with trendy, wide-leg bottoms, an unbuttoned gray jacket, and red pointed heels. The form-fitting corset went perfectly with the loose pants, offering structure to stop the garments blending into one. The look proved Swift is on top of it when it comes to being privy to the latest fashion trends. All-black was in (though monochromatic looks never really go out of style). Pointed-toe heels have been trending since 2023, and we can't get enough of the suave pop of color from her wine shade slingbacks.
What really caught our eye, though, is how the ensemble demonstrated Swift's style growth. Her chunky black choker alluded to her 2024 Grammys attire when she announced "The Tortured Poets Department," one of her most mature albums to date. And gone were the light colors and floral dresses we'd seen in her street style looks in years past. Though we love that she still incorporates fun into her stage costumes, for us, the more sophisticated, professional vibe of these garments solidified her transition from wide-eyed, country cutie to strong, independent woman.
