Is Sabrina Carpenter A Natural Blond? All The Details About Her Hair

Sabrina Carpenter's hair is so gorgeous we're thinkin' about it every night, oh. It's a blond that shines like spun gold while she's performing the likes of "Espresso" and "Please Please Please." Essentially, she's like a real-life Rapunzel. But is Carpenter's naturally wavy hair naturally blond? Her hairstylist Laurie Heaps spilled the tea — and she is! Heaps told PopSugar in August 2024 that Carpenter's natural hair color is medium blond, although she gets just a little help to achieve her iconic look. The star has golden highlights added, as well as slightly lighter highlights placed around her face.

If you follow Carpenter on Instagram, you'll probably have already seen the hair color she was born with. In May 2024, the "Nonsense" hitmaker posted a series of throwback snaps to celebrate her 25th birthday, which showed her as an adorable blond baby. In the first shot, baby Carpenter had sweet strawberry blond tresses that flicked out past her ears. The second image showed her a few years later with medium blond curly hair.

Her blond highlights are all about natural sophistication

To get Sabrina Carpenter's signature highlights, Laurie Heaps focuses on the width, she told Behind the Chair in June 2024. Chunky highlights may be a celeb favorite for summer 2024, but that's just not Carpenter's vibe. "I prefer to keep the highlights balanced — not too thick and not too thin — for a natural, sophisticated look," Heaps explained. "In her bangs and around her face, I add some extra highlights for a pop of brightness and definition."

Another tip for getting Carpenter's bombshell hair look? Not blending too much while cutting. Heaps explained she doesn't like to camouflage Carpenter's super flattering, face-framing bangs. "When layering around her face, I don't blend from the bangs to the longer layers. Blending too much can result in a shaggy look," she shared. "Instead, I like to leave the layer just after the bangs at about chin length."

Sabrina Carpenter's hair team use a combo of products on her locks

Products are super important to keeping Sabrina Carpenter's golden tresses shining. Laurie Heaps told PopSugar that she uses Olaplex while dyeing, plus an Olaplex treatment after doing her highlights. In conversation with Behind the Chair, Heaps shared that she also uses Redken's Flash Lift Bonder Inside and a 20- and 30-volume developer to get Carpenter's super blended effect.

Carpenter's hair stylist Scott King also has a hack to keep the stunner's blond bright. King told People that Carpenter's hair care routine includes washing with Hairstory's New Wash Rich shampoo with Purple Color Boost (available on Amazon for $60). King also uses Hairstory to style the "Feather" singer's tresses. He applies Dressed Up heat protectant and Undressed texturizing spray, as well as the brand's Hair Balm and Hair Oil. When Carpenter needs a little extra oomph, he applies the Powder dry shampoo ($37 from Hairstory) to get some volume.

But Carpenter's team sometimes changes things up. King told Entertainment Tonight he used Joico's Flip Turn Volumizing finishing spray ($22.50 on Ulta) and the company's Body Shake texturizing finisher ($24.50 from Ulta) for her April 2024 Coachella performance. The stylist also used Joico's hydrating shampoo and conditioner and Joico detangler.

Sabrina Carpenter doesn't dye her brows (and probably won't stray from blond)

Though Sabrina Carpenter keeps her blond hair fresh with regular highlights, we can't say the same for her brows. Apparently, plenty of people want to know if Carpenter's brows are dyed, as it popped up as one of the most Googled questions about her during a 2021 Dazed interview. "That's crazy someone looked that up!" the singer said, before lamenting she's never dyed them. "Unfortunately, they're natural," she joked, adding, "I was born a blond with dark eyebrows."

As well as refusing to dye her brows (because, why should she?) we probably shouldn't expect this star to have a dramatic hair transformation like hair chameleon Ariana Grande. Carpenter told Vanity Fair in June 2024 that she doesn't feel the need to try red or brunette, noting, "I never wanted to dye my hair because I always really felt comfortable as blond, the way I was born." And we think that's beautiful.
