Sophie Turner Is Stepping Up Her Style Game Post-Joe Jonas Divorce

Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas confirmed their split in September 2023, and we've seen quite the fashion glow up from the actor since then. "A style refresh can be a powerful way for [someone] to establish a new sense of self. For a woman in Hollywood, this might mean projecting a different image and potentially attracting new opportunities," Peter Martinez, fashion designer and stylist at Leather Skin, explained to Women.com. "The newfound freedom of being single often allows celebrities to focus on self-care and explore their creativity through fashion," he added.

Turner really took that sentiment to heart, as her fashion choices have differed quite dramatically since her divorce began. "While her style has evolved over the years, reflecting her personal growth, the style transformation after her breakup was more pronounced," Martinez explained. And the former "Game of Thrones" star demonstrated her growth and newfound independence in some of her most stylish, grown-up looks ever.

Sophie Turner and Taylor Swift had everyone talking when they stepped out together in New York in November 2023. Part of this was  due to the fact that Swift dated Turner's ex-husband Joe Jonas back in 2008, but also because the friend pair clearly dressed to impress for the evening. The girlfriends were photographed with other famous friends Selena Gomez, Gigi Hadid, and Brittany Mahomes for a girls' night we'd have killed to be a part of. While Turner could have taken a page out of Swift's book and worn a revenge dress — especially knowing there was a good chance Jonas would see the candid shots — she instead went more understated with her look.

For the evening, Turner went preppy chic in a green and blue gingham blazer over a navy top, acid wash jeans with a raw hem, and trendy pointed toe heels in a powder blue hue. She completed the look with a Louis Vuitton purse in a bright blue and green shade. 
The reason it worked is because it didn't feel like she was trying too hard or wearing pieces that felt inauthentic. It was her same youthful vibe, but it was elevated with a more sophisticated edge. "This shift in style suggests a desire for a more professional and independent image, reflecting her newfound strength and resilience," Peter Martinez told us. The light colors and trendy heels showed us this superstar wasn't in mourning and was still having fun, while her pricey designer bag made a statement about how she can financially take care of herself and the former couple's two daughters.

In 2021, Turner and Joe Jonas attended a Los Angeles Dodgers game together. Both donned Dodgers jerseys, with Turner opting for jeans and a messy half up, half down 'do. Two years later, when she attended the Rugby World Cup in Paris in October 2023 (and unveiled the trophy!), her sports game stye was totally different and suggested she had more of a focus on fashion. This time, she looked super stylish in a Louis Vuitton outfit that consisted of a beige long sleeve top which she tucked into a chain patterned skirt with black leather panels at the hips. The structured, high-waist mini gave the star a fashion-forward silhouette. She paired the designer look with block-heel black boots that finished just under her knee.

Clearly, the star's fans loved her sophisticated glow up. "Love her look," one person commented on a snap of her rocking the look on Instagram. "She looks great (as always!) must be the happiness glowing," another shared. A third commented on X, formerly known as Twitter, "Sophie Turner with that post divorce glow up." Stunning.

Sophie Turner was photographed in France in June 2024 looking effortlessly stylish in a light blue and white vertical striped two-piece that was perfect for the summer. The beauty proved she'd stepped up her street style, as well as her event looks, as she wowed in a collared long-sleeve crop top and the matching pants. The look marked a fun twist on power dressing, as the structured, collared top was polished and grown-up, but, like the bottoms, it was also loose. The pieced gave a nod to menswear, as well as her new role as an independent single mom. We love how she made the PJ look a little more dressy, but still focused on comfort.

But, even though she was clearly trying something different, Turner's style was still very much in there. She paired the two-piece with casual white and green sneakers, as well as white rimmed sunglasses. Both were fun and stylish yet practical; perfect for a working mom of two who's getting used to a new normal.

When Sophie Turner attended the Louis Vuitton Cruise 2025 Show in Spain back in May 2024, she showed us exactly what it meant to up her style game but stay true to herself. The "X-Men" star stunned in a structured bubblegum pink power suit that screamed cosmopolitan elegance. It gave us total "Legally Blonde" vibes, putting a feminine twist on a menswear staple. We particularly love the addition of the red waist belt (statement belts were spring 2024's hottest accessory trend, after all!). It was a bold addition that showed she meant business and was growing up, but it was still vibrant and vivacious, showing how life certainly doesn't end after a breakup.

After Turner shared snaps from the event on Instagram, fans certainly noticed how she'd aged up her style. "Wow! You've grown into a woman!" one person commented on her Instagram upload. "What an amazing woman you have become," another added.

"When they were together, Turner's style was more casual and youthful, often characterized by dungarees, pigtails, and vintage band tees," Peter Martinez explained to us. "Post separation, her style took a mature turn." We definitely saw that in the immediate weeks after her and Jonas' public separation. In September 2023, Turner was photographed in New York wearing a sultry, fitted oxblood leather mini dress and knee high black stiletto boots. 

The look was very different from what we had seen Turner wear for many of her previous public outings with Jonas. And although the dress was dark, by opting for something that wasn't all-black, she showed she was still having fun and willing to try something different. The deep red looked stunning against her fair skin and blond locks, which she kept modern and poker-straight. Turner also made it clear she was still paying attention to trends, as pointed toes were a massive fall 2023 boot trend. By flaunting her bare legs as the weather started to turn chillier, she also made a bold statement about her independence and strength.
