Brittany Mahomes Makeup Mistakes That Totally Ruined Her Look
Brittany Mahomes is a makeup girl, and there's nothing wrong with that. She's often seen supporting husband Patrick Mahomes at Kansas City Chiefs games (usually alongside fellow game day fashionista Taylor Swift) in full glam, including faux lashes and heavy lip liner. Brittany's tried and tested smoky eye and nude lip have mostly served her well, too. Her 2024 Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl Ceremony makeup was glowy and gorgeous, as was her tan look for the 2024 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Launch Party. But unfortunately, there were a few times when experimenting with makeup ruined her look.
In 2017, Mahomes, who's also had a few outfits that missed the mark, shared a photo on Instagram wearing a pink-red lipstick with heavy eyeliner and faux lashes. She clearly had fun getting dressed up, as she should, but playing up her lips and eyes proved to be too much. Coupled with heavy foundation and a dramatic blush/bronzer combo, the cosmetics aged the then-21-year-old. But that's not the only time this athletic beauty has proven not all makeup days are great makeup days.
Brittany Mahomes's game day eyeshadow needed more blending
In October 2019, Brittany Mahomes watched the Kansas City Chiefs take on the Denver Broncos. Her team logo jean jacket was adorable and her half-up, half-down curls were super glam and flattering, but her poorly blended eyeshadow brought down the look. The contrast between her brow bone and her dark brown shadow was too pronounced and would have looked more natural if she (or her makeup artist) applied a lighter brown or sandy shade with a fluffy blending brush (such as NYX's Pro Blending Brush, e.l.f.'s Blending Eye Brush, or Sigma's Beauty Professional E25 Eyeshadow Blending Brush) to diffuse the harsh edge.
Her barely there makeup and leopard print dress made her facial features disappear
Brittany Mahomes posed in a super sexy leopard print dress for a 2021 Instagram post but her makeup didn't match the going-out number's vibe. She seemed to skip eyeliner, her signature smoky eye, voluminous faux lashes, and lip liner. There's nothing wrong with natural makeup, but by going so understated her facial features disappeared amidst the dress's loud animal print. Her light shadow and thin, unfilled brows didn't make enough of a statement for her eyes to pop, and her light pink lipstick sans liner looked faded and more appropriate for daytime. Knowing Mahomes isn't afraid of bolder makeup, this felt like a missed opportunity.
Brittany Mahomes's heavy makeup at the gym was too much
Brittany Mahomes showed us again how time and place can make a big difference in how makeup is perceived. In 2019, she shared an Instagram gym snap in full makeup. She wore foundation, powder, heavy bronzer, blush, lipstick, lipliner, eyeshadow, and brow products, which felt out of place. Mahomes's makeup-free photos prove she's a natural beauty and the gym is the perfect place to show that off. A small amount of light cosmetics is the best approach if it makes you feel more confident. However, your skin will thank you for going natural as, per the American Academy of Dermatology, exercising in makeup can cause acne.
She overdid the powder on New Year's Eve
To ring in 2019, Brittany Mahomes shared a cute Instagram photo of herself cuddling up to her man on New Year's Eve. But excessive face powder ruined her look as her skin appeared flat and dull as if it was covered in a chalky, white filter. Mahomes's powder may have contained silica, which can cause unflattering flashback. "These powders work fine if you're not planning on getting photographed (especially with flash photography), but if you are, avoid these white silica-containing finishing powders at all costs," Benjamin Puckey, a makeup pro, told Teen Vogue after a similar thing happened to Taylor Swift.
Excessive makeup threw off her alter ego debut
Brittany Mahomes debuted her alter ego, Blaire, in a 2022 Instagram post, but her heavy makeup wasn't flattering. Mahomes wore garish bronzer which looked muddy, bright blush, dramatic eyeliner, faux lashes, deep pink eyeshadow, and shiny berry red lips. Each part was competing to be the focus, which was distracting and aged the usually youthful beauty. And fans agreed. "You love it and that's all that matters. But it would be a no for me. Especially with the hair color, style and make-up," one comment read. However, we do appreciate that Mahomes has the confidence to try something new because it can be easy to get stuck in a makeup rut.
