The Worst Dressed Celebs In All Of 2024, Ranked
Celebrities rocked some truly stunning outfits in 2024. Fashion-wise, it was the year Jennifer Lopez transformed her style following her divorce from Ben Affleck; the year Taylor Swift completed her stunning transformation into a glam WAG. But the same 365-day period wasn't so kind to every star.
The 2024 Met Gala that gave us Zendaya's jaw-dropping Maison Margiela look also gave us Zoe Saldana's beige dress flop. Throughout the year, we saw some unflattering and downright confusing outfit duds on the red carpet, on the streets, and on social media which we just couldn't ignore. But there can only be one worst dressed celebrity of the year. So, we're counting down the famous faces who majorly missed the mark and explaining what went wrong so you can avoid their awkward mistakes.
20. Reba McEntire
We love how much country legend Reba McEntire was on our screens in 2024 — we just wish it had been in better outfits. McEntire performed at the ACMs in May in a black and silver ensemble, but the sparkly number's frayed bottom appeared unkempt, and her long, black cardigan felt too casual for a big performance.
The Grammy winner opted for a power pantsuit aesthetic for the Emmy Awards four months later, but the patterned, green two-piece needed a once over from a tailor. The pants were too long and created an unsightly wrinkle at the knees. With so many decades in the spotlight and so many A-plus looks over the years, we expected more from Miss "Fancy."
19. Shania Twain
Shania Twain is known for her glam, fun, Western-inspired garments, so her 2024 ensembles were a real let down. The star tried the no-pants trend in February at the MusiCares Person of the Year event, but the execution made her look more dowdy than on-trend. She paired olive short shorts with a matching blazer and a slightly darker turtleneck with long, black boots. Coupled with the short, dark hair, Twain's usually youthful aesthetic felt lost when she could have embraced a chic red carpet opportunity.
The "Man! I Feel Like A Woman" star opted for another underwhelming ensemble in July for the "Andrea Bocelli 30: The Celebration" in Italy. Though we understand why Twain opted for a long, flowy dress for her European summer, the cut was unflattering and the mismatched patterns felt outdated.
18. Zoe Saldana
Zoe Saldana's wardrobe is usually chic and contemporary, but she made a big faux pas at the Met Gala in May. She wore a dreary and shapeless nude dress with brown, thigh-high leather-look boots and a gold Chloe logo belt. Not only was the latter distracting, the outfit didn't compliment her gorgeous skin tone and didn't fit the "Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion" theme.
Saldana made another rare misstep in November at the ACLU SoCal Bill of Rights Dinner. She wore black pants with a nude top featuring draped satin over a fitted corset-style underlayer. The fabric added bulk around her middle, which wasn't flattering, and didn't fit with her usual well-tailored style.
17. Raye
We usually love Raye's style, but the British singer had multiple missed fashion opportunities in 2024. When the beauty attended Milan Fashion Week in September, her plain, nude dress was underwhelming and washed her out. The garment appeared wrinkled and didn't give the impression she'd put a lot of thought into her ensemble, despite fashion shows being a great opportunity to have fun and take a risk.
Raye made another wardrobe mistake at the MTV EMAs in November. Her shapeless Fendi number didn't compliment her stunning curves, and the drab color and material fell flat at such a big event. "Beyond shocking," one person wrote of the dress on Threads. Ouch.
16. Christine Quinn
Christine Quinn was notorious for being over the top on "Selling Sunset," and her dramatic outfit choices haven't changed since then. In September, she attended the CNMI Sustainable Fashion Awards in a ripped, body-hugging dress that was a little too close to her skin tone. She paired it with nude sock boots with clear platform bottoms, which cheapened the look. And although we're sure Quinn does her bit to aid the sustainable fashion movement, plastic heels weren't the best idea for such an eco-conscious event.
Quinn also stepped out for Milan Fashion Week that month in very distressed denim. She flashed her toned middle, pairing the distressed pieces with silver, pointed toe heels. Though double denim was a big trend for 2024 (and pointed toe heels came back better than ever in 2023), the reality star gave us heavy Christina Aguilera Y2K vibes that gave the impression she was more focused on fads than staying true to her own style.
15. Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran isn't known for being the biggest fashionista, so we give him props for dipping his toe into the fashion world. Unfortunately, his clothing risks in 2024 didn't pay off. At the Grammys in February, Sheeran wore a half-camo, half-checked suit that felt mismatched. The camo was too casual for the major music event and the patterns clashed.
Attending the Met Gala, Sheeran made another bold statement in a light blue suit with a satin lapel and satin-and-rhinestone bowtie. He paired the pastel ensemble with black shoes, which were too harsh and would have worked better in brown. Sheeran looked like he'd come straight from an '80s prom, not to one of the most prestigious events in the fashion calendar.
14. Linda Evangelista
As an iconic supermodel, we expected better from Linda Evangelista. She attended the Met Gala in May in an all-white ensemble that completely swamped her figure. The satin gown had too much extra material across the bodice and the bottom was too long, while the sheer, white bicep-high gloves did nothing to elevate her style.
She also had an mismatched fashion moment in September at Paris Fashion Week. Evangelista's confusing all-black ensemble included an oversized Yves Saint Laurent hoodie, a long, leather-look jacket, satin skirt, patterned hosiery, and kitten heels. Monochrome looks can be great for lazy days, but this was no lazy day. The hoodie was too casual for a big fashion show and didn't fit her usually glam, polished aesthetic.
13. Lainey Wilson
We love that Lainey Wilson stays true to her Americana style, but there were a few occasions in 2024 where she went too heavy with her signature aesthetic — or abandoned it completely. She attended the People's Choice Awards in a skin-tight, leopard-print jumpsuit that didn't match her traditional country vibe. The one-piece looked cheap, and the bottoms seemed to create a trip hazard.
In August, the Grammy winner attended the ACM Honors in an outfit more fitting for her Western vibe, but it wasn't flattering. The oversized sleeves of her patterned, flowy top added bulk to her body, and so did the extra material tied around her neck. Once again, her pants were too long and overwhelmed her frame, while the overall ensemble felt too matchy-matchy.
12. Dwayne Johnson
Usually, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson is dressed to the nines in sharp suits and expertly fitted shirts. But 2024 saw rare missteps for the usually dapper actor. He attended the Oscars in March in an ill-fitting gray satin suit that looked tight and uncomfortable, especially across the shoulders. The star paired it with a darker gray satin shirt with a distracting deep plunge and maroon edges.
Johnson then hit up the GQ Men of the Year event in November in an outfit that gave us costume vibes. His baggy black pants, leather-look vest, and cowboy hat didn't fit with his usual suave vibe and would have been more fitting for a Halloween party.
11. Jaden Smith
Jaden Smith's flare for fashion is admirable, but, sometimes, his unique choices miss the mark. In January, Smith didn't think practically when leaving a Emmys party in an oversized lilac jacket, baggy blue pants, and sneakers. Smith had his hood up and the garment was so big it covered most of his face and his hands, which probably made it tough to socialize.
Smith then walked his own fashion path at the Met Gala ... but not in a good way. He hit the red carpet in a heavily layered black-and-white oversized jacket, pants, waistcoat, and chunky boots combo. Despite wearing so many pieces, Smith kept his shirt unbuttoned to expose his bare torso, which felt too informal for the prestigious fashion event.
10. Megan Fox
Megan Fox seemed lost with her fashion choices in 2024. In February, she attended a Grammy viewing party in a see-through chainmail dress with patches and skimpy underwear to cover her modesty. She sported it with pink hair, a lip-piercing and a large, shaggy, black coat. Not only was it more out-there than some of Fox's past ensembles, it felt like too much for someone who wasn't a Grammy nominee (or even a musician, for that matter).
In April, her confused style was on display again at Coachella. She wore a white top, high-waisted, ripped, denim shorts, and peep-toe, thigh-high black boots with an oversized black jacket. She accessorized with long, blue hair and cowboy hat. Coachella may be the place to have fun with fashion, but Fox's flamboyant wardrobe didn't feel true to the well-tailored, polished pieces she usually rocks.
9. Heidi Klum
Heidi Klum's penchant for color and bold clothing has landed her on a few worst-dressed lists over the years, and 2024 was no different. The supermodel looked like an optical illusion in August in an unflattering, predominantly yellow dress with a sheer skirt while out in California. The bold print alongside her striped cream and orange bag clashed, while her studded black boots just didn't work for the middle of summer in the Golden State.
But that wasn't Klum's only questionable fashion choice. The "America's Got Talent" judge slipped into a provocative leopard-print mini dress for People Magazine's 50th Anniversary event the following month. The garment was short and backless and the print was gaudy, which didn't fit her usually fun-yet-sophisticated aesthetic.
8. Addison Rae
Social media influencer Addison Rae took a risk at the Variety Power of Young Hollywood Event in August. She wore dark red velvet pants with a mauve crop top, complete with an eye-catching Madonna-esque cone bra. Clearly, Rae wanted to make a statement, but the execution was off. Her top was so dramatic, it clashed with her more conventional bottoms.
Rae wasn't done with unusually shaped bras, though. At the MTV VMAs in September, she channelled Madonna again, this time in her "Like A Virgin"-era. Rae wore a satin white crop top with unflattering extra padding over her chest, plus high-waisted panties with an oversized tulle train. The layers of tulle unbalanced the "Diet Pepsi" singer's silhouette and felt too attention grabbing considering she wasn't a nominee.
7. Katy Perry
Katy Perry's "143"-era wardrobe wasn't her best. Perry's outfit completely missed the mark when she left BBC studios in London in July wearing a booty-exposing gray bodysuit with a long lace skirt. The singer accessorized with chunky black shoes, a black bag, and sunglasses. Wearing dark glasses at night was odd enough, but the top and skirt served two totally different aesthetics and created an unflattering silhouette as she walked.
Perry then attended a Paris Fashion Week show in September in a bulky dress seemingly inspired by a duffle bag. The avant-garde garment was too bulky to compliment her figure and the straps around her legs were distracting. After she posted a video to Instagram in the ensemble, one fan commented, "Katy's dress is ugly af." Yikes.
6. Bunnie XO
Bunnie XO knows how to nail a trend while staying true to her style, but her strong looks are sometimes too much. The podcaster slipped into a brash green, leopard-print jumpsuit with a corset fastening and plenty of embellishments for a series of Instagram photos in September, pairing the one-piece with heavily chained black boots. The garment was very Bunnie XO, but wasn't her most on-trend aesthetic.
In October, she shared another batch of snaps on Instagram in a white, lace-effect, body-hugging jumpsuit. She styled the one-piece, which would have been more fitting for an ice dancer, with divisive denim cowboy boots. Though Bunnie can pull off almost anything thanks to her enviable confidence, she mixed too many aesthetics that didn't suit one another here. We doubt she'd mind landing on our list though, as this star knows her ensembles aren't for everyone. Bunnie XO even described her aesthetic as "Trailer Park Queen" in an Instagram video.
5. Erika Alexander
"Living Single" star Erika Alexander took fashion risks in 2024, but they didn't all pay off. In February, she attended the SAG Awards in a miss-matched floral dress featuring clashing patterns and color. The busy ensemble was too long and featured extended sleeves, which added bulk to her figure (and didn't look all that practical, either).
The following month, she landed on a few worst-dressed lists for her divisive Oscars dress. The white, strapless number had a bold peplum around her middle, featuring sheer black mesh with vibrant ruffles that faded from purple to green. "I'm mad at [Christian] Siriano for designing this, [Erika]'s stylist for co-signing it and [Erika] for agreeing to wear it," one fan wrote of the dress on Instagram. "Take the tutu thing off, corset the top, cinch the waist and change the necklace and voila! A nice look!" they recommended.
4. Kimberly Guilfoyle
Though we appreciate that Kimberly Guilfoyle has fun with fashion and isn't afraid to slip into something daring, the TV personality doesn't always tailor her looks to the occasion — which can be extremely distracting. In March, she supported congressman Abraham Hamadeh at Mar-a-Lago in a seriously plunging, slinky black dress. It had embellished mesh across her chest and inside the beyond thigh-high slit, and felt far more fitting for a nightclub than a serious political event. "What are you wearing – seriously," one fan even commented on her Instagram upload.
Later, in April, she wore an embellished neon yellow gown to a fundraising gala for nonprofit Furry Friends Jupiter. Images from the night proved the eye-catching dress was too attention grabbing for a charity event, while the bright color, dangling sequins, plunging neckline, patterned fabric, and sheer cape were too busy.
3. JoJo Siwa
In April, JoJo Siwa walked the iHeartRadio Music Awards red carpet in an outfit more fitting for a costume party. Siwa channelled Gene Simmons in dramatic eye makeup with a sheer black and gray bodysuit. It was more glam rock than anything we'd seen from her before, and just didn't feel authentic.
Proving her style was confused, she changed it completely for the Gala of The Stars awards in October. The singer looked underdressed in a silver and black Gucci-logo lounge suit that became an outdated trend in 2024. She added chunky, knee-high silver boots, which cheapened the designer two-piece.
We also had to dock the star major fashion points for the giant pom-pom she wore to Christian Cowan's runway show in September. Siwa accessorized it with furry green boots featuring a monster's face that weren't chic.
2. Julia Fox
Julia Fox attended the "Adam Sandler: Love You" premiere in August in all-black. The sheer top, corset, oversized blazer, pants, and boots combo worked, but things took an unfortunate attention-grabbing turn when she wore pink, satin underwear on the outside, matching the panties to her bag.
That same month, Fox was snapped in New York in a yellow, long-sleeved crop top, gray jacket, and super low-slung patchwork maxi skirt in multiple patterns that was just as confused as it sounds. She wore it with bold yellow eyeshadow under her pale blond hair, which washed her out. Then there was the NSFW-print bikini she wore under an oversized blazer and skirt while out in Los Angeles in April. But, even with that divisive wardrobe choice, Fox didn't make the top spot on our worst-dressed list.
1. Kanye West
Another year, another selection of odd outfits from our worst dressed celeb of 2024, Kanye West. The artist sometimes known as Ye had us scratching our heads by repeatedly covering his face in monochrome ensembles. In Paris in February, he wore all-black while out with Bianca Censori, and his clothing choice reminded us of a firefighter's uniform with its reflective strips and shiny, ill-fitting material. Even more off putting? The full-head mask. West and Censori were back in Paris in June, where West sported a white version of his confusing face-covering garb. The rapper wore a hoodie paired with baggy white pants, shoes, and gloves.
West's style has evolved a lot over the years, but he clearly needs a reminder of the fashion advice he gave Complex in 2007. "People say you're supposed to dress for the occasion. What I always say is dress like you're coming from somewhere and you got someplace to go. You'll probably be a little bit more yourself," he said. But we have no idea where the star was coming from or going to in his uninspired, monochrome outfits of 2024. And, seemingly, neither did he.
How we ranked the worst dressed celebrities
To earn a place on our worst dressed list of 2024, celebrities had to have at least two questionable clothing choices that didn't match the occasion, didn't flatter their figure, or featured clashing patterns or colors. We considered how each look fit with the celeb's usual style, how reliant they were on trends over authenticity, if the outfit was outdated, and if the aesthetic was cohesive or confused. We included red carpet and street style outfits, utilizing event photography, candid paparazzi shots, and social media images.
