All Of Ariana Grande's Wicked Tattoos - Including Her Matching Ink With Cynthia Erivo
Ariana Grande clearly loves tattoos, as she has over 60 designs on her body. She also loves the "Wicked" movie (proved by Grande's many Glinda-coded outfits on the promo trail), so we weren't surprised she got inked to commemorate the project. "It was just the most extraordinary, transformative, and beautiful experience I've ever had in my life," she told Vogue in March 2024. "I love the project now so much more than I ever did, and I've loved it since I was 10 years old."
The "Dangerous Woman" hitmaker wasn't alone in her many "Wicked"-inspired tattoo parlour trips — she got inked with her co-star and close friend Cynthia Erivo multiple times. Grande admitted they got so many tats during filming that director Jon M. Chu jokingly called them out on it. "Jon was like, 'That's really extreme. You guys are hardcore.' And we were like, 'Should we not? Are we doing okay? Is this okay?'" she told MTV in November 2024.
But "Thank Goodness," she carried on, because Grande got some stunning and heartfelt mementos. We're breaking down the four she's shared with the world, but Grande and Erivo also alluded to some secret matching ink in a November 2024 "Today Show" interview, which may mean they have more tattoos than they've let on.
Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo got 'For Good' tattooed on their palms
Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo showed off their matching "For Good" tattoos — on the insides of their palms — during "The Kelly Clarkson Show" in November 2024. The ink represents one of the final songs of "Wicked," which describes how Glinda and Elphaba have changed each other's lives "for good." "We got them on opposite [hands] so when we hold hands, they touch," Grande shared. The pair originally showed their tattoos to the world on Instagram Stories.
The co-stars inked poppies on their hands
Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo also etched matching long-stemmed poppy flowers onto the sides of their hands. The two haven't publicly confirmed why they opted for that design, but it almost certainly relates to the poppy field that grows on the outskirts of the Emerald City in "The Wizard of Oz." If you're feeling inspired and thinking of getting a matching tattoo with someone, remember there's a lot to consider first.
Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo tattooed each other's character initials
Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo also celebrated "Wicked" with matching heart tattoos. Grande's contains an "E" for Erivo's character Elphaba, while Erivo got a "G" to represent Grande's Glinda. By a sweet coincidence, the letters are also the first initials of their last names. Grande and Erivo each got the tattoos on the backs of their legs, but haven't displayed them as publicly as their other tats.
Ariana Grande got a vintage Glinda illustration etched on her hand
Ariana Grande also got an picure of her character inked onto her hand — just not her version. Grande's tattoo depicts an illustration of Glinda from the original book by L. Frank Baum, released in 1900. "I waited forever to fill up this hand. And I thought, 'I'm gonna wait for the right thing to come along,' and yeah, that felt very right," Grande told Allure in August 2023. No flash tattoos here!
