5 '90s Trends Jennifer Aniston Still Wears Today
Jennifer Aniston was one of the ultimate '90s fashion icons. As "Friends'" Rachel Green and one of the biggest A-Listers in the world, the actor served up some of the hottest looks of the era, from denim overalls, to cropped sweaters, to plaid skirts. And it turns out Aniston was such a fan of her character's chic looks she swiped a few from the set (and some from her Monica Geller co-star Courteney Cox's wardrobe, too!) "She still has the same platforms... I'm talking about the wedges, the ones with the rope around them. She would have taken those [from the set]," Cox said on "Fashion Neurosis" in October 2024. "She took a lot of Monica's dresses, and she'll say, 'Oh yeah, I used to wear this on 'Friends.' And, I mean, it looks great on her. She has a great figure and she's adorable."
Cox wasn't wrong. In fact, Aniston looks so good in '90s trends she still rocks a few of them today.
The retro bob
Jennifer Aniston has had a stunning hair transformation, but one of her most notable looks will always be her iconic '90s bob. 'The Rachel' — a shoulder length 'do with face-framing layers — created a media firestorm and was so flattering the actor brought it back with a modern twist for the 2024 Golden Globe Awards. Aniston's updated version was a little longer, but still featured the classic choppy layers and volume everyone was dying for in the decade.
Cargo pants
Nothing quite says '90s like baggy pants, and Jennifer Aniston was clearly happy to get in on the resurgence. We had to learn how to style cargo pants again after they began to trend again in 2023 but Aniston was already ahead of the curve, because she'd slipped into a white pair while out in Los Angeles in 2019. The star gave the ankle-length bottoms a modern upgrade with a white top, black pointed-toe boots, and a structured blazer, but the light, loose trousers still gave us the vibe of the decade.
Sleeveless turtlenecks
Sleeveless turtlenecks were another staple of the era and Jennifer Aniston (who's worn a few outdated trends) never gave up on them — despite the garment slipping out of fashion in the early 2000s. The "Marley & Me" star wore the top on the red carpet of PaleyFest LA in November 2024, wowing in an all-black ensemble that included fitted pants and open toe shoes. She loved the top so much she also wore it the January prior to a screening of "Past Lives" with leather-look pants.
Spaghetti strap dresses
The decade was also all about spaghetti straps on everything from dresses to crop tops. Jennifer Aniston brought the look back at the Emmy FYC Event for her series "The Morning Show" in July 2024, sporting a deep red, floral dress we totally could have seen on Rachel Green. The dental floss-esque straps flattered her décolletage and accessorizing it with the matching deep red stone gold necklace was a throwback in a fashion-forward way.
Vests and knee-high boots
Vests in womenswear were a huge deal in the '90s and Jennifer Aniston rocked her fair share of them, particularly as Rachel Green. She loved the vibe so much she even adapted it into her modern wardrobe, sporting a black version on "The Drew Barrymore Show" when she appeared alongside Adam Sandler in March 2023. Her all-black ensemble also included knee-high stiletto boots (another trend from the era!) with a matching, floating, calf-length skirt that gave us early 2000s vibes.
