Megan Fox Outfits That Totally Missed The Mark
Megan Fox's style is ever-evolving and hard to pin down. Sometimes she's super sexy and out there, other times she's covered and casual in the latest trends. "I'm just experimenting now with being in really oversize pieces or being in things that are just not as necessarily revealing. But then there's a part of me that's like, 'No, I need to be naked this day,'" she told WWD in 2023. "I don't have one consistent style. It really does depend on just what I'm feeling in the moment," the "Jennifer's Body" star added. But that constant experimentation hasn't always meant success.
Though Fox can pull off almost anything thanks to enviable confidence and effortless sex appeal, she's still vulnerable to an outfit that falls into the "Crimes of Fashion" category. And there are a few looks in her past that really missed the mark.
Her 2007 Teen Choice Awards look was far too casual
Megan Fox attended the 2007 Teen Choice Awards in a look too understated for the red carpet. Her casual, gray shift dress was more appropriate for running errands and her calf-length, black leggings and wedges cheapened the outfit even further. Fox redeemed herself at the 2009 Teen Choice Awards in a chic and glam YSL mini-dress, which only made this dowdy ensemble feel more like a missed opportunity to make a statement.
The problem may have been a lack of connection to a stylist. "I had gone through a bunch of stylists early on in my career, and none of them really resonated with me," she told Elle in 2021. "And I felt like they were always dressing me too conservatively; I just wasn't inspired. And so I kind of lost my love of fashion altogether." This uninspired ensemble proved that.
An odd shoe choice ruined what could have been an elegant look
Megan Fox stepped out for the ABC UpFronts in 2005 in a trendy dress that was spoiled by her poor shoe choice. The star paired a satin, purple square neck number with clunky, shiny gold heels featuring thin cross-cross straps and spotty, red petals over her foot. The footwear was too busy for the gown and the colors seriously clashed. Fox didn't help elevate her fashion via the large, light gold clutch either, as it didn't match her heels or her dress.
The form-fitting number would have worked better with simpler heels. We appreciate that Fox took a risk, but clear shoes were trending at the time (before the world embraced the naked shoe trend again in 2023) and wouldn't have distracted from her dress.
Megan Fox's basic cardigan ruined her press conference aesthetic
Megan Fox's stripey dress and chunky waist belt were trendy at the time of her 2009 South Korea "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen" press conference, but her basic, gray cardigan made the 'fit fall flat. The garment was far too understated and casual for one the movie's main stars and didn't match the aesthetic or colors of her dress or peep-toe heels, making it look like a last-minute addition. Even more confusing? It was June in Seoul, where temperatures can reach upwards of 68 degrees.
But there may have been an explanation for Fox's less than glam vibe, as she told WWD in 2023 she rejected fame and fashion at the height of her "Transformers"-era. "For a long time, I ran from fashion and lived in nothing but sweatpants or workout clothes and never wanted to express myself," she said.
The 2024 Grammy look was too much
Megan Fox took standing out too far when she attended the Jam for Janie Grammy viewing party in February 2024. The totally sheer chainmail dress with large sequins, fluffy black coat over her elbows, and power move pink hair demanded too much attention for someone who wasn't nominated or even attending the Grammys themselves. The dress also needed more cinching at the waist to be truly flattering.
In 2021, Fox told E! News her style became more daring after she began dating Machine Gun Kelly. "He obviously is really flamboyant with his style. I always had a streak of that when I was young," she said. "He has elevated that a lot and brought that out a lot more." The musician's bold style influence was obvious here, it just needed refining.
Her red beads and leopard-print dress clashed
For the 2011 Maui Film Festival, Megan Fox slipped into a leopard-print mini dress with a ruffled skirt. The dress itself complimented her figure with its skater cut and cinched waist, but her strange accessory choices made this outfit miss the mark. The long, red string of beads around her neck and silver pendant didn't fit with the dress's sexy aesthetic, and her white, lacy pumps were too textured for the dark print. Instead, Fox should have opted for simpler jewelry and understated black heels that assimilated with the animal print without distracting from it.
An overly-sheer top forced her to pull odd poses
Megan Fox clearly wasn't comfortable in her brown halter neck top and leather-look pencil skirt while promoting her book, "Pretty Boys Are Poisonous," in November 2023. Though the pieces were fashion-forward and worked together, Fox went braless and, unfortunately, her top turned see-though with the paparazzi flashes. The wardrobe malfunction resulted in Fox (who rocked a bright red power bob that gave us total boss vibes) pulling some odd poses and using her book to protect her modesty. The tight and sheer combo wasn't Fox's classiest outfit and proved even the most aesthetically pleasing ensembles should be left in the store if they're not practical.
Megan Fox's boxy, orange dress didn't create the most flattering silhouette
Although we're all about bold color, Megan Fox's strapless, bright orange number at the Maxim Hot 100 Party in 2007 left a lot to be desired. For one, the square shape looked like a satin pillow case that swamped her frame and added bulk to her hips and torso. It also pulled out the orange tones in her blush and tan, which wasn't overly flattering. Fox added leopard-print slingbacks that were too much with the dress's vibrancy. Simple gold heels would have worked better for a subtle, sophisticated style.
Fox should have heeded the petite fashion advice she gave Elle. "I'm either in clothes that are really well-fitted or I just get overwhelmed by fabric, which happens very easily. So if I know I'm going to be photographed, I do tend to pick things with a very close fit," she said.
