Blake Lively's makeup-free moments prove she's a star who doesn't need cosmetics. She turns up the glam when she wants to, but she's often spotted without any eyeliner, lipstick, or blush — or in flawless, minimal makeup that looks natural. In fact, she's hoodwinked fans before by posting an Instagram snap that her followers believed was au naturelle. The photo showed Lively in character for a movie in a short, brown wig with glowing skin, alongside a photo of herself with dark under-eye circles and blemishes. 

"[The makeup artist] did this really rough look in the beginning and then this is once I sort of clean up. But when I posted it, people were saying, 'Wow, Blake bravely shows what she looks like before and after makeup,'" Lively explained on "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon" in 2020. "I'm sort of vacillating between my vanity ... but also being a feminist and being like, 'Why do we expect women to wake up looking like this? This isn't realistic that you wake up this beautiful. But I would like people to think that I wake up that beautiful,'" she joked, referring to her subtly made-up look.

While Lively has a point, she actually does wake up gorgeous, because she knows beauty isn't skin deep. "It sounds so hokey but beauty does come from the inside. It comes from confidence. It comes from people that you love and you loving yourself," she told Vogue in 2017. And she's proven that via multiple gorgeous no-makeup photos, unafraid to strip things back and enjoy a bare face day.

In July 2024, Blake Lively scrapped time in the makeup chair for a wholesome Instagram selfie. The former "Gossip Girl" star smiled as she arranged flowers on a worktop, and her bright skin glowed. Lively's complexion had a healthy, natural shine and her lips remained hydrated and plump even without heavy lip-liner and gloss. She also had a natural flush to her cheeks, which made her look years younger than her age (she was 36 at the time).

In 2008, Blake Lively let her skin breathe when she arrived at LAX with a messy 'do and seemingly without foundation, lipstick, or even an eyebrow pencil. The actor's brows were still full without any help, and her slightly paler but flawless complexion proved the importance of SPF all year round. "In winter, I focus on hydration, in summer, I go with lighter moisturisers, and regardless of the season, I am always focused on sun protection," she told Marie Claire in 2017 (via Yahoo! Lifestyle).

Forget fancy, made-up ad campaigns, because Blake Lively went casual to promote her Betty Buzz mocktails in July 2024. On Instagram, the "Green Lantern" star proudly showed off her natural freckles and a little redness on her cheeks and chin, which only made her more relatable. Lively had no dark undereye circles and smiled for the camera with a look that fit her basic routine. "On a day-to-day basis I just normally wear sunscreen, tinted moisturiser and nothing else really. Nothing really make-uppy," she told British Vogue in 2016.

During the COVID-19 lockdown, many of us resorted to at-home hair maintenance, and Blake Lively was no different. The actor shared a timelapse Instagram video without a drop of makeup as she and husband Ryan Reynolds tended to her locks. After Lively prepped her tresses, Reynolds applied a dye while her cosmetics-free skin glowed. Lively is known for her flattering nude lip combo, but had a slightly paler pucker without the help of lipstick or lip-liner. 

Blake Lively beat the paparazzi at their own game by sharing several photos on Instagram in 2022 displaying her baby bump. The first image from the beauty (whose maternity fashion was iconic) showed her makeup-free with a big smile, and her pregnancy glow was so real. Lively wore an adorable red, plunging swimsuit with a cut-out over her pregnant belly, and pulled her hair back into a messy bun to show her off natural facial radiance. Once again, the star's complexion was immaculate and her eyes pierced without mascara or liner.
