What Taylor Swift Looks Like Without Her Signature Bangs

Taylor Swift's bangs are a big deal. Partly because she looks so different without them. Swifties lose their minds any time she changes her staple 'do — no matter how subtly. In November 2024, an X fan account claimed the singer had cut her bangs, attaching one video as evidence that racked up more than 912,000 views. In reality, her hair was far from drastically different and fans couldn't help but comment on the consistency of her signature cut. "The bangs are here forever," one person tweeted.

It's understandable why her followers feel such an attachment to her hair. The many eras of Swift's transformation have been marked by gorgeous bang looks; she even shot to fame with a subtle, sideswept version when she released her eponymous debut album in 2006. But the heavy cut most people recognize actually happened on the fly during a Vogue photoshoot in 2012. The move that facilitated some of Swift's boldest hair looks even had one fan state on X, "One of the best things to ever happen to her." Swift has been less flexible about getting a dramatic cut since though, and full bangs have become an omnipresent feature framing her gorgeous face. In fact, we need to turn back the dial several years to find the last time she stepped out with no hair at all over her forehead.

Taylor Swift wore multiple forehead-baring looks in 2013

Search for photos of Taylor Swift in 2013 and you'll find several snaps of her without (gasp!) her signature fringe. That January, the "Karma" hitmaker attended the Golden Globes in a stunning, dark purple gown (one of Swift's best revenge-dresses) wearing her hair in an elegant up-do. She rocked a chic chignon on her left side to show her statement drop earrings, and her hair team added plenty of volume at the roots. Swift had blunt bangs at the time, but they were pulled back to give the illusion she'd grown them out. Then, for the Met Gala that May, she tried a Rapunzel-esque 'do we haven't seen much of since. The Grammy winner pinned the crown section of her textured tresses up (including the hair over her forehead) for a glam half-up half-down look. The "Valentine's Day" star was clearly feeling daring and even added a pink streak to her locks as she flaunted her uncovered forehead.

It's unclear if Swift will ever stray from her signature cut, but she's certainly gotten more creative styling her bangs for different aesthetics. At the 2024 Grammys, for example, she ditched the full version that stretched all the way across her forehead, instead pushing her tresses to the right with a diagonal part for a stunning, sideswept look with edge.
