The Accessory Trends That Will Elevate Your 2025 Outfits
There are some major fashion trends rearing their heads in 2025. As we say goodbye to outdated winter pieces like chunky dad sneakers, our favorite celebrities are showing us how to rock everything that's fresh — from oversized jackets to Western wear. Kate Moss-approved skinny scarves have returned from the early 2000s, too — but they're not the only Y2K obsession making a resurgence.
In the accessory world, stacked bracelets are hot again. So are the oversized, slouchy bags anyone who was anyone carried in the crook of their elbow back in the day (style queen Paris Hilton, we're looking at you). But there are new, modern ways to wear these throwbacks as well as a batch of new trends to take note of, including mixed metal jewelry. To get all the details on 2025's hottest accessory trends and how to wear them, we went to Stitch Fix stylist Emiko Strah for the expert lowdown.
Mixed metals
Traditionally, fashion and jewelry experts have recommended sticking to only one metal in our outfits. But not in 2025. "Combining silver, gold (or even rose gold) pieces offers a modern, effortless vibe to any casual or dressed-up look," Emiko Strah told us. Ahead of the curve Hailey Bieber has already embraced this trend, as she showed us how to wear silver and gold earrings on Instagram in November 2024. Adding a silver chain to a bag with gold hardware (or vice versa) is another fun way to try this trend, as bag charms became an unexpected hit in 2024 and will continue to trend in 2025.
Strah championed mixing rings and necklaces, telling us, "Try layering necklaces with different metal finishes or stacking mixed-toned rings to add dimension to your look." For a quick and easy way to be on trend, try a pack of multi-metal stacking rings such as PAVOI's 14K Gold Plated Solid 925 Sterling Silver CZ Simulated Diamond Stackable Ring Eternity Bands or RAIFIN's 18K Gold Plated Stackable Rings with CZ Cubic Zirconia Sterling Silver and Rose Gold. Because they're designed to be worn together, stacking rings can be more comfortable than piling up multiple solo pieces.
Stacked bracelets
Remember in the 2000s when the go-to look was to wear pretty much every single bracelet you owned at the same time? That's back, but in a more understated way. The 2025 version is all about mixing different textures and colors for a purposefully non-cohesive look. This is a great way to combine trends, as wearing silver, gold, or rose gold bracelet and bangles together is a very modern vibe. "I suggest combining dainty chains, thick bangles, and beaded designs for a curated arm that perfectly complements everything from basic T-shirts to flowy sundresses," Strah said. She also recommended wearing boho-inspired jewelry, as that's another 2000s aesthetic making a triumphant return.
Taking on this trend also offers the chance to inject some personality in your outfit. If you love sparkles, stock up on wrist jewelry featuring different gem stones and colored glitters. If gothic is more your style, mix black metals with silver bangles.
Pearls
Though pearl accessories get a bad rep for being your outdated grandma's jewelry, 2025 proves they can be modern and chic when worn the right way. The best part of the pearl resurgence is they're no longer occasion-wear only. "They're a versatile staple for everyday wear," Emiko Strah said. "A classic single-strand necklace or even modern pearl-embellished hoops can elevate a casual outfit, bringing a touch of timeless sophistication to any outfit from your staple jeans-and-tee combo or your favorite athleisure set," she added. Because they lean toward romantic, the gemstone can also make the perfect modern Valentine's Day gift for your significant other or your girlfriends.
To bring the style in 2025, wear a pearl necklace under a button-down shirt but only tuck one part under the collar. You can get the same vibe by pairing it with a turtleneck top, allowing the jewelry to dangle over the rolled collar on one side. This is less primped and proper than the traditional, vintage, Coco Chanel-esque styling, providing an undone, current aesthetic.
Chunky sunglasses
"In 2025, bold, chunky frames are stealing the spotlight, turning sunglasses into the ultimate statement piece — rain or shine!" Emiko Strah told us. "I suggest styling oversized, geometric frames with a sleek monochrome outfit for an effortlessly chic vibe, or opting for colorful frames to bring a playful pop to your everyday look." But don't think chunky eyewear can't go with even super casual outfits too. Strah told Women.com one of the hottest ways to wear the trend is, unexpectedly, with activewear. "[Chunky sunglasses add] a touch of personality to your casual style!" she said.
Make Rihanna your style icon for this trend. RiRi is often spotted in out-there eyewear day and night and the bold, all-black pair she sported in her 2024 Gucci campaign demonstrates the perfect, modern way to rock oversized frames.
Oversized bags
Say goodbye to the micro bag trend we coveted in spring/summer 2024, because this year we're rocking the total opposite. For 2025, bigger is better with oversized bags dominating the runways. Versace and Prada were two of the big fashion houses who had models strut down the runway with XL pocketbooks; great news for those who like Y2K nostalgia and being prepared for every eventuality when we leave the house. "Oversized bags that are as practical as they are chic! The viral 'Walmart Birkin' moment has spotlighted how large bags are having a cultural resurgence, blending functionality with high-fashion appeal," Emiko Strah said.
Strah advised reaching for big bags that can work in everyday situations and on formal occasions. "[Try] slouchy leather totes or structured bags to hold all your essentials, whether you're heading to the office or jetting off for a weekend getaway," she said. Montana West's Large Tote Bag or The Sak Los Feliz Large Tote Bag will ensure you're on trend.
