Lauren Boebert Outfits That Were Complete Misses

Lauren Boebert's politics aren't the only polarizing thing about her. The representative for Colorado's 4th congressional district's appearance regularly causes as much of a stir as her staunch republicanism — and that includes her interesting outfit choices. Though Boebert's go-to look is a blazer and a pencil dress (she's worn the look everywhere from the U.S. Capitol building in Washington to New York's Trump Tower), sometimes she deviates from the corporate vibe. And it doesn't always end well.

See her controversial t-shirt choice in 2021. Following a fatal shooting on the "Rust" movie set (a firearm Alec Baldwin was holding discharged and killed cinematographer Halyna Hutchins), Boebert took to Instagram. She posted a snap in a black top with the words "Guns don't kill people Alec Baldwin does" written across her chest. The fashion choice majorly missed the mark considering Hutchins lost her life in the tragic accident, and fans let Boebert know her clothing choice wasn't okay in the comments. "This isn't a f**king joke," one person hit back. "Humans died on that set and you're using their death on a petty t-shirt to get likes... that doesn't feel wrong to you?" another wrote. But that's hardly the only time one of Boebert's outfits just didn't work.

Her leopard print, open toe heels weren't practical for walking on uneven terrain

Lauren Boebert suffered a footwear faux pas in 2021 while meeting the Custer County Sheriff's Department in Colorado. She wore skinny blue jeans, a metallic champagne, cowl neck top, black baseball cap, and black blazer, which fit her usual style and formed a look appropriate for a political appearance. The problem? Her shoes.

Boebert stood on a rocky patch of grass, but wore open toe, leopard print wedge sandals. Though many people find wedges more comfortable than stiletto heels and reach for them as an airy, spring or summer shoe, they didn't work for this event. We can't imagine the divisive political figure had an easy time walking on the uneven terrain, and they looked out of place and out of season compared to the rest of her ensemble.

Her short, pink dress made sitting down difficult at CPAC 2023

When Lauren Boebert spoke about important political issues during the Conservative Political Action Conference in 2023, she risked a wardrobe malfunction. Boebert wore a buttoned up, black blazer over a Barbie pink dress with black stiletto heels. The bright garment fit the Barbie obsession that dominated summer 2023, so we give her props for paying attention to trends, but the problem was its length.

The mid-thigh dress turned into a mini when she sat down, which meant she had to sit with her legs constantly crossed to maintain her modesty. Of course, as Carrie Underwood knows, there's nothing wrong with an outfit that shows off some leg, but it doesn't work for every occasion. Boebert's uber-feminine piece would have been better suited to a party than a political conference, as too much skin on show at important events can be distracting for others and uncomfortable for the person wearing the outfit.

Lauren Boebert's patent red stilettos didn't scream casual eatery

Before becoming a high-profile political figure, Lauren Boebert owned a casual eatery in Colorado called Shooters Bar and Grill. Boebert looked unrecognizable without makeup at the restaurant in 2015, but when she visited the location five years later, she looked far more glam. Maybe a little too much so.

Boebert wore a mustard, knitted sweater with a large pearl necklace, blue skinny jeans, and shiny, red stilettos. Though the outfit was inoffensive and fit with her surroundings, the shoes didn't. The sky high heel and bright, shiny patent red material were far too vampy for the establishment, which prides itself on being a down-home location where patrons can eat and exercise their right to bear arms. The eatery had guns attached to the walls and homey, wooden planks along the floor and half-way up the wall, making her look out of place in her teetering shoes.

Her pink tank top looked restricting and far too casual for an important meeting

In 2023, Lauren Boebert posed for photos with Gunnison County Commissioner Liz Smith. She flashed a smile as she stood alongside her fellow political figure, but didn't look totally relaxed. Her form-fitting bubblegum pink tank top, which she tucked into her bottoms at the front, looked restrictive and uncomfortable. Boebert appeared to be breathing in, which made the snap look awkward.

And it wasn't just her shirt that missed the mark. Boebert paired the sleeveless garment with blue jeans, which were far too casual for such a high-profile occasion. The denim and tank top combo was a far cry from the governor's usual blazer and dress style and made her look too dressed down compared to Smith, who wore a white, collared blouse and pleated navy skirt. "Dress a little more professional, Lauren!!" one person commented on Boebert's Facebook post of the meeting. "I see once again how unprofessionally dressed you are," another wrote.

Her decision to wear an oversized tie over a no-collar dress was questionable

Lauren Boebert made another fashion faux pas in 2023 when she wore a pencil dress under a blazer with a bold, oversized tie. Though we applaud the politician for trying to elevate her typical style and keep things interesting, the neck piece looked totally out of place as she worked at the U.S. Capitol building.

The sunny yellow material was distracting over her solid blue and black ensemble. What's more, it didn't sit quite right around her neck, with part of it sticking in and out of the dress's neckline. The unexpected pastel accessory also clashed with her bright red lipstick and large hoop earrings, which were all fighting to be the center of attention. If we were styling Boebert, we'd have opted for a muted lip color and stud earrings to allow her fashion risk to have its moment without making the outfit look too busy.
