Style icon takes cues from the late Diana.

Since becoming the Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton has made a name for herself as a style icon- just like her late mother-in-law. This week, she used a new royal family photo as an opportunity to not just take cues from Princess Diana, but also to pay homage to her.

Last night, Kate, Prince William, and the rest of the royal family took part in the annual Diplomatic Reception, honoring U.K. diplomats who work around the world. To the event, the Duchess of Cambridge wore one of Princess Diana's favorite tiaras, the Cambridge Lover's Knot-- one of the most well-known tiaras in the Royal Family's collection.

She reportedly was loaned the tiara by the Queen herself, and the headpiece was actually worn by the Queen's mother, Queen Mary.
