Does Abby Die On NCIS? Season 15 Ends On A Shocking Note

We need to talk about last night's episode, NCIS fans. With Pauley Perrette's departure from NCIS in season 15 coming up soon and the shocking gunshot at the end of the May 1st episode, fans everywhere are freaking out. Does Abby die on NCIS? Who was shot? This season is certainly ending with a bang. And we're not sure you're going to like it.

For anyone that missed last night's episode of the CBS hit. You need to go back and watch. If you don't mind spoilers for the episode and what's coming, you can keep reading. But, my heart is breaking just writing up this post. So, you better be prepared.

On the NCIS season 15 episode entitled "One Step Forward," Abby and Reeves (Duane Henry) were mugged at gunpoint. Reeves handed over his things, but Abby offered to help the man rather than doing the same. The episode ended with a gunshot. NCIS fans' panic was echoed all over Twitter on Tuesday night. And the promo for next week's episode "Two Steps Back" does not make us feel any better.

NCIS Season 15 Episode 22: "Two Steps Back" Trailer

Before we dive into Perette's take on her departure, here's a breakdown of what happens in the trailer. Watch it down below if you dare. But, it's not for the faint of heart.

The promo trailer for the May 8th episode makes us think that Abby is going to die. However, television is always about clever editing and red herrings. So, expect the unexpected. Nonetheless, the trailer for next week's episode does not look good for Abby's life.

The trailer even wrote, "After 15 seasons be there for Abby's final goodbye."

Gibbs (Mark Harmon) even says, "I know I let you down, Abbs. I said that I would always keep you safe."

Gutted. Excuse us while we sob in the corner. Our hearts are shattered. But, does this mean that Abby will die? Here's what Perette had to say.

Pauley Purrette Talks Departure From NCIS Season 15

Back in October 2017, Perrette announced that she was leaving NCIS in season 15 via Twitter.

"So, it is true that I am leaving NCIS after this season. There has been all kinds of false stories as to why (NO I DON'T HAVE A SKIN CARE LINE AND NO MY NETWORK AND SHOW ARE NOT MAD AT ME!)," Purrette wrote. "It was a decision made last year. I hope everyone will love and enjoy EVERYTHING ABBY not only for the rest of this season but for everything she has given all of us for 16 years. All the love, all the laughter, all the inspiration…I love her as much as you do."

While this makes us sad, it doesn't explain how Abby leaves NCIS for good.

However, in a recent interview with TV Insider, Perrette went into more detail on Abby's departure.

Pauley Purrette On Abby's Exit On NCIS

So, how will Purette's exit as Abby go on NCIS? Well, we think it might go a little better than we think.

"I believe in God and the universe so firmly, and it just suddenly became blindingly apparent that now was the time," Purette told TV Insider. "After a lot of thought, I decided to announce it myself on Twitter because I didn't want it to be turned into anything 'shocking.' Abby leaving is more than a cheap TV ploy."

So, maybe Abby's departure won't mean she's dying. If it's not meant to be shocking, then we have hope that Abby will leave on her own terms. We're just going to have to see on the next episode of NCIS!

How Will Abby Leave NCIS In Season 15?

Personally, I think that Abby will survive the gunshot. However, it will make her realize that it's time for her to leave. Like we said before, we think that, like Purrette, Abby will get to leave on her own terms.
